Watzke's comments sound a lot less definitive than the previous statements by Dortmund ("no way, no chance" etc.). He didn't rule anything out. The questions were alluding towards the Bild report that Dortmund would cave in if an offer of €100m is made, to which he naturally has to say that Dortmund is aiming for mid-term sporting success and not money if he doesn't want to get eaten by the fans.
Regarding the idea that Dortmund could not turn down a profit of 80 million, of course they can. Dembele's market value may go up as he grows and improves, especially after a potentially good World Cup next year. Who's to say they won't make 150 or upwards of him a year from now? There will probably be several clubs willing to pay that next summer or the one after. The only thing is Dembele's wish to join Barcelona, but he'll hardly force his way out or sulk if he wants to impress this season with a World Cup in mind.

Exactly. Watzke and most other businessmen would know not to show their cards to the press before negotiations start officially. You don't want to undercut yourself on the player's price.

I really don´t see how they could say no to 100M.With neymoney we can even pay it full.
Watke said the same about Hummels, Mikhi and ohters. lol
