in midfield Masche can only play the pittbull/bodyguard role for a midfield genius, no more no less. Like Gatusso whowas Pirlo's personal pitbull for years

That doesn't work well in Barca tho, we need 3 creative midfielders and a very strong fast passing midfield. Where is his place then? Not good in midfield, not really great in defence either.

i have to disagree here. in our worst games last season, we have always been overrun in the midfield. busi is an absolut genius and i consider him the best #6 in the world, but against the atleticos of this world, he is not the best option. Mascherano would bring some steel to the midfield against these opponents.

this goes hand in hand with the fact that busquets been way overplayed and needs some rest as well. also flexibility in the line up is always a good thing to have.

all that, his attitude and authority and the fact that he can be an emergency cb really make him a valuable player for barca to have imo

Thats why he can't play in midfield at Barca. A player without vision cannot be a midfielder at Barca.
