Still no news on his injury? I am quite concerned. I hope he won't be out for more than 2 weeks.

From the scene of our players arriving in Barcelona you can clearly see he was limping.

Not wishing an injury on anyone but I'm glad he got subbed. We look so much assured with a tall centre back alongside Pique imo.

Agree with ThwiX, people bashed him as a LB, noone said anything about him being a CB. Usually he's good at CB, but he has his bad days.

Mascherano is our starter at CB and he was doing a great job until he got injured. Mathieu was good too after he came in.

Meh, he was okay, not great. That failed slide tackle on Ronaldo would've given Madrid a goal if it wasn't for some great goalkeeping by Bravo.

Except when Cronaldo destroyed him near the left side of our penalty area. It was a classic Masch over commitment action.

You need a player who would try to stop the action early. 90% of the time Mascherano reads the game great. 10% of the time maybe, he ends up on the wrong side of the duels. Happened with Ronaldo, happened with Aguero as well when we played City. We need to adapt and live with this risk. It pays off anyway, given the amount of actions Mascherano stops because he acts fast and commits to duels when others don't.

I agree. Anyway Mashe does far more on the pitch than just tackling and it is the reason why Lucho rarely takes him off the pitch.

I've always been one of the biggest defenders of Masch in here, so there no need for a lecture on his strengths here. That, however, doesn't change the fact that that action was a mistake on his part, and could've cost us early on.
