Remember how he almost cost us the Copa del Rey title last season? Back then it wasn't his first time. He is great is some aspects, but he is absoletely abysmal in others. Horrible performance. Not just his mistakes, but he is suppose to be the leader at the back. It was chaos. Pique is so much better than this guy.

Stop with the Masche hate train. I remember when we drew 2-2 against Almeria back in 2010 due to a Puyol own-goal. Masche hopefully had an off-day. However, I agree that NOT playing him alongside a competent CB like Pique is a bad idea.

It seems almost impossible for Luis Enrique to get it right after an international break. We lost in San Sebastian, we last to Real Madrid, and now we lost to Alaves. I think it was right to play without Messi and Suarez, but why playing Mascherano? Why change the complete back line compared to the Bilbao match before the break? I don't blame Mascherano, he was tired and jet lagged.

Actually, I was fine with pretty much the whole lineup, but yeah, Piqué despite playing two matches, didn't have to travel across the Atlantic and was a better choice, likewise with Umtiti who didn't play with his NT... Masch still had a shocking performance, but there were better options available that Lucho didn't consider...

He's far too slow to play as a right back....I mean, I don't think Aleix is good enough for us, but at least he fits the profile better. Masch made every opponent seem like Bale at some point, getting absolutely wrecked on the break.

More of a sub/rotational player these days given his below average performances. Really started at the end of last season with that horrendous performance in the Copa final.

^ I agree. Make him a back-up for Busi for now, I don't even trust Masch as a center back now: he's been looking so vulnerable lately. If he continues to play like this, it would probably be best to let him go next summer.

I don't see how Masche can be trusted in any big games for us while he's playing like this. Maybe he's sad the club wouldn't let him go to Italy with Dani. Umtiti should be starter now.
