His value is going to increase when they update. 50-55m would be reasonable.

Likes of Araujo, Kounde, Cuti Romero, Militao, Skriniar and Upamecano are valued at 60m. Of course age is a big part of it as well.

I'm tempted to say he's better than Araujo thanks to his ball-distributing skills, that's how good he's been.

But Araujo is a beast at covering ground, pushing off the ball everyone, winning everything in the air, and making last ditch tackles and interceptions that save goals

No one in the team can compare with him in pure defending skills. W/o him our defense is never that secure

I just saw a rumor on Twitter from “TheAthleticFC” that we would sell him if a good offer came in….

Hopefully that is bullshit. I don’t think I would sell for 100m. I have little faith that the money would be correctly reinvested.

Doubt he will want to go, also...Fati, Rapinha, Toress, Garcia, Abde, Nico, Dest, Lenglet...

There is like 10 players to sell before him.

The Athletic FC is a shitty source of transfer rumors, a shitty source of anything news-worthy in my opinion actually. Just another media outlet trying to grab eyeballs and clicks with nothing but sensationalism.

The Athletic does have good journalists but the problem is they are mostly on the English side of things and they do not have any real sources within Barcelona themselves.

The only way they could get any info is from an EPL club themselves.

I have a sub on The Athletic and cba posting the whole thing but basically they did an article where they talked through the entire squad as in all players and who will stay and who might go if we need to make a profit on the books and this is the part about Christensen:

Christensen?s free transfer from Chelsea may be the best signing Barca made last summer ? he has arguably been the best centre-back in La Liga.
But? with Barca, there is always a but.
As Christensen joined on a free, any sale would instantly boost Barca?s budget ? the full fee would be used to offset other costs. Could the club resist a big-money offer for the 26-year-old Dane?
Club sources, who requested to speak anonymously to protect their position, concede that it would be difficult to do so. Xavi would not be happy, though, and it?s difficult to imagine the manager sanctioning his departure.

The Athletic is top quality journalism, for the most part at least. I don't get where you have the sensationalism part from? It's not like they're a rumor mill that report a million rumors all day like MD, Sport and that kind. Maybe from these retarded twitter accounts who take everything out of context.

I read a few articles from them, among which the one about us deeply in crisis last year (I actually paid $1 to read that stupid article, silly me), with nothing concrete, nothing but speculations and I felt like it was like a novel. Shitty stuff, will never read their stuff again.

Apparently a bunch of British "journalists" who sit their asses in their offices in the UK and came up with stuff. For Spanish football I'd rather read those British expats based in Spain, likd Sid, Graham and Collin Millar.

The Athletic were acquired by The New York Times last year. That's why the writing got more novel in style like the mothership NYT. Also I think they got that Tifo guy on YouTube with his amateurish cartoon narrations.

Not about levers themselves, but how they reported the whole thing. If I recall correctly the article made some allegations, accusations without bothering to tell the readers what the club actually did, plus a lot of “backroom conversations” that nobody knows how the heck they obtained and came up with. Textbook sensationalism. I prefer reading reporting that is ladden with facts, not selective facts or opinions.

I am fine with stuff that is critical of the club, as long as they are fact-based. There is plenty of it, much of which come from people that I respect, such as Sid Low and Colin Millar. Nothing wrong with that.

Vinicius? What did I say about him? Are you still holding grudges over what our exchange several years ago regarding how he ended up signing with your cunt club? Hahaha, give it a break yourself, Wolfie. I haven’t said much about him at all, the only thing I said about him recently was actually defending him (feeling happy for him for scoring against Atletico after the nasty stuff Atletico fans did to him).

Aye, one article that made you go "I'm never reading them again".
Ah Lufty Lufty, lol

Not one, several but not that many I reckon, since their stuff is mostly behind a paywall, however the ones I read all gave me the same "story-telling", "narrative-building" vibes with spicy details and sensationalism. Sometimes when you have seen one or a few, you have seen enough. I don't need them or anybody to tell me a story and shovel whatever narrative down my throat, just tell me what happened and I will form my own opinion and judgement, thank you very much.

The Athletic articles that examine purely the tactical aspect/data of the game are a joy to read.

The rest, take them with a grain of salt
