16 - Fermín López

I'd take effectiveness over talented any day of the week. Give me an open goal tap in at the back post from Fermin instead of a jaw dropping nutmeg in the centre circle from Pedri which always leads to no assist or goal.

Barca as a club focuses too much on so called ' talent ' resulting in a team that, at times, can keep possession beautifully, but lacks a cutting edge. Even now our new pivot apparently needs to have the passing ability of Iniesta, whilst what the team desperately needs is the workrate and ball winning ability of a Kante.

We need to stop seeing technique as being far superior to effectiveness and athleticism. The game has moved on from a decade ago.
Well said.
Problem at Barca is we've been spoilt by having so many wonderfully talented players who were effective that we think that's the norm. Just because a player is not a great dribbler doesn't mean he's useless.
Yes, he's very similar to Lampard. He can look very ordinary at times but he drives forward, scores goals and works hard off the ball. He has better stamina than Pedri who looks like a 60 year old recreational athlete at times.

Will be interested if he makes the team.

Ayoze and Aleix also played well so curiously waiting De La Fuente's decision. Deadline is midnight today but will probably be announced sooner.

Nah, Yamal has better chances for that.

Fermin first has to make the team and then get actual minutes to show what he can do.

Fermin will have a tough Euro. People now expect him to be this specialized goal scorer. The fact is his minutes will be scarce which means he'll have little to no time to live up to those expectations.

Now Sport are reporting that we have rejected a 30m offer from United for Fermin.

Let's be honest, if someone comes in with a 30m opening offer for Fermin, you negotiate a sale.
I mean, he has been one of our best players tbh - so we sell sell sell cheap'ish and than when we try to buy everybody will play hard? Our team is a mess... we have a 36 year old Lewa and nobody to cover for him if he gets injured etc, we have Torres, Roque, Faye - Fermin is one of few who runs his heart out and scores goals and plays well. Sell FdJ and replace him with a new DM and CM (there's actually loads that that can be bought for a good price that would suite us better than Frenkie), sell Torres because he is useless, sell Roque because he clearly has 0 talent etc, try to make next season Lewa's last etc. Don't touch our defenders (but Inigo and Alonso can gtfo), don't touch Pedri, Gavi OR Lopez, don't touch Yamal and Raphinha - these are the players we have to build our new team on.

Catalan journalists/reporters are the most shameless people in the business.

There's no way in hell Man Utd would offer 30m for Fermin Lopez, and that Barca would reject it, and that no reliable source in the UK would pick up the news first or at least confirm it.

Didn't they buy the human fidget-spinner for 100ish million?

50mil and I'd take it. Don't believe these rumors at all though, United aren't looking for this type of midfielder and doubt Fermin would want to leave.
