It’s crazy he was about to turn 16 here, must have been super late going through puberty which is a rare case but happens sometimes. It make complete sense why Barcelona never really seen him as first team material until now. Super talented kid that bloomed late. Glad he’s here now

Xavi deserves the credit for this one. Everyone wanted Torre to be the one but Xavi binned him off pretty quick and turned out to be the correct decision.

Now brings this kid through out of nowhere and he looks to have great potential. Done the same with Balde as well, who also wasnt really pulling up any trees in the B team at the time.

Xavi makes some pretty astute decisions which get glossed over here, which is a shame, because as a legend of the club we should be looking at him with glass half full rather than half empty.

I think Xavi is a good evaluator of talents but it's easier to convince him for the kids who come through Barca youth ranks than "outsiders" who still need to adapt to the club first (even if they're supposed to have Barca DNA like Pablo).

He clearly made a mistake last season keeping Torre on the bench for a whole season rather than let him play in Barca B (don't know if it was a contractual thing though) or let him leave on loan in January. Hopefully has learned from this and won't repeat it with Fermin. He'll surely get a chance with Pedri and FDJ out but when they return his minutes will probably again be limited unless he makes a full breakthrough in coming weeks. So we'll need to re-evaluate his situation in January and decide what's the best.

Another thing is Fermin proves loans can work if they are done at the right time and to the right team. In the past we were often loaning players already over 20 after being on the fringes of first team for a year or two and it was too late for them to develop to their full potential.

I've always said the most important for kids aged 18-20 is to play regular minutes at whichever level they're ready for at that time. He had a great loan spell in Linares and returned not only as an improved footballer but also full of confidence which translated straight into the first team when he got a chance.
