19 - Lamine Yamal

Xavi: "Lamine Yamal is a similar player to Messi. He can mark an era at Barcelona."

If he really said this, this is a lot of pressure that Xavi willingly places on Yamal. Willingly comparing Yamal to Messi (maybe a reporter asked this, haven't seen the press conference) and that second sentence... Surely Xavi must think Yamal is truly special to say something like that.

Xavi did NOT compare Lamine Yamal to Messi in his post-match press conference. The quotes circulating on timeline are taken out of context. #fcblive

Looked visibly taller than Xavi, he's obviously not 1.65m anymore (what the stats websites list). He has long legs and is naturally lanky and has tricky feet, I honestly think he will be fast by the time he's 17. Already didn't look slow today.

update: some websites put him at 177cm, some at 173cm

Enjoy him before Laporta give him a ridiculous contract and he start thinking about his retirement which will give us Ansu 2.0

PRESSURE MAKES DIAMONDS

IF HE FAILS, HE WAS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH.
NOTHING TO DO WITH 'PRESSURE'

Deco

Culé since 2005
Think he will take the slow route like Messi, Fati, Foden etc. slowly getting more playing time

Bit of a shame that the game basically had zero pace and depth when he entered (largely played in the final 3rd), which benefited Fati as well. Would have liked to see Yamal run a bit with the ball just to see how far he is from first division football physically.

On the ball he's just topclass, takes literally a minute to see, which makes BBZs remarks a bit weird. Endrick looks less well-rounded for example, but certainly has the pace.

And most importantly he's not one of those weird play-making wingers.
