Messi was a demon as a 17/18 year old himself. Strangely underrated in these discussions. Can understand it I suppose since he didn't play nearly as much as Yamal, but different situations.

As great as Lamine is, I think he probably would have been introduced more gradually like Messi was if we had the level of players we had back in 2004/2005.

I mentioned this in pre-season or during Euros but no one is ready for the conversation to limit the minutes of a 17 year old. Messi never logged these minutes, and no one knows long-term impact on a developing footballer (both mentally & physically).

He should be coming off earlier in matches with a good rotation but he’s THE marquis player for the club and world of football now, this will be a delicate balance to manage by all invested stakeholders
