That's a really nice looking world cup! Germany vs Brazil and Argies vs Spain final 4 and top it off by an Argie vs Brazil superclassico. Sign me up for that bracket!

Amazing that even with this lineup, the likes of Martinez, Cazorla, Moreno, Isco, Mata, and many others would still be benched.

Xabi is still a better player than Koke, Cazorla, Mata or Isco..and after they way Spain's midfield was overrun against Brasil I have no doubt in my mind that Busi and Xabi will be the first 2 names on VDB's list. And as much as I love Bartra, if he is only used in the small games I don't think that VDB will break the Ramos-Pique partnership..and rightly so.

Finally something on which we disagree. Spain was completely overrun against Brazil in the midfield. Spain need the bulldozing power of Alonso. Sacrificing one man in attack has proved less bad than sacrificing the double pivot.Spain haven't looked defensively secure since the absence of Alonso. Neither has Madrid.
Regarding Bartra, I want him to succeed but the way Tata is (mis)managing him he won't be in Spain's first team and rightfully so.Juanfran is doing well, is solid defensively and also decent in attack. Plus he will play in CL and big matches which bartra won't

I hope Argentina gets knocked out of the Group stages. I don't want Messi winning the world cup to be honest, not in Brazil. As much as I love Higuain he doesn't play for Real Madrid and with only Di Maria being the only Argentinian player in Real Madrid it isn't enough for me to want Argentina to win it.
Marcelo means to me a lot more, and I hope he wins it at home. He deserves it considering how fantastic of a player he is and how awesome he has worked. Him or Ronaldo, one of them deserve it for sure more than anyone else on the planet. Casillas, Ramos and Xabi have both won the WC, so they already cemented their place in history and I don't care for Benzema to win the WC and Varane will win the Russia or the Qatar one, no problem.
However Portugal desperately need a striker, they can't continue like this. Also, Brazil need to find some harmony, their game is still erratic and without organization. Scolari tries so many different options and Hulk still stinks up the place.
