Pique has 4 cl medals

The game itself was really underwhelming. Such a strange feel. Slippery pitch, fouls, bad ref, handballs, danger when you least expect it... weird.

Triplete.

It is a truly beautiful moment right now for me.

In 2006, I watched a Barca game randomly on TV to see what La Liga was all about. I had been a diehard Liverpool fan since birth (coming from my father's influence) but watching Xavi Hernandez was like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It was like having a mental translator by my side who unscrambled the various thoughts and feelings I had about the game of football, and portraying to me everything I had ever wished to see from a team, in terms of philosophy, ability, and mentality.

It wasn't long after this that we begun to hear about a certain prodigy, in Leo who was backed to do amazing things. He begun to show pieces of magic but still wasn't at the level we knew he could reach. In 2008, I firmly knew that we were about to begin a golden period. Guardiola came in and further sharpened our sword, further re-invented us, further allowed for Messi to shine. From 2008-2015, I have completely fallen in love with the essence of our team, the Spanish national team, and the Spanish people. We have the greatest player in the world (soon to be ever), the greatest young player (Neymar), and we are the greatest team in the world once more.

The lowest point of my footballing life and my life, full stop, was our 7-1 defeat to Bayern, and the ending to that season with Tito's illness, Messi's injury, and the worldwide doubt about us and our style. Tiki Taka was dead, and our 'cycle' was over.

I knew, and I'm sure a lot of you guys here knew, we were far from over. I knew Leo would come back from 2014, I knew Neymar would be a huge turning point, I didn't approve Suarez' signing but I knew he'd do the business. I knew if Pique got his head back in the game, if we made another CM signing (Ivan) and if we worked on our defending, we'd be right back up there, but it wasn't just about personnel. It was about style.

This is where Enrique gets my praise. While under the manic pressure to continue our 70% possession and 40 pass before a chance is made style, he added things to our game. The ability to do 5 passes and score, the ability to sit back and absorb pressure and counter, the ability to surprise the opponents on our offensive set pieces, and surprise them once more at our resilience in defending them.

For me, while maybe aesthetically not the most pleasing Barcelona, this is the best Barcelona team ever, and we are once more back on top of the world. 6 trophies to win next year, Messi's Ballon d'Or in the bag, more to come from Suarez/Neymar, more signings to be made, and Messi still only 28 (next year),

this may be the beginning of our second golden period.

It's adios to Xavi, but it is olá to the second cycle!

Vamos!

This is so great! Trebles are so rare, and it is even rarer for a team to win a treble without needing any significant luck or last second victories.

We won the league before the last week. We won every round of the CdR pretty easily. We even won every stage of the Champions League pretty handily. No good fortune was required; in fact, nothing involved in this treble was even particularly close.

Other trebles are not usually like this. Manchester United's 1999 treble required all kinds of good fortune. Our 2009 treble required Iniesta's stoppage time goal against Chelsea. Inter's 2010 treble required luck against us in the CL (offsides goal for Inter, wrongly disallowed winning goal for Barcelona). And their league win came down to the last match, in which they got a 1-0 victory, when a draw would not have been enough. Bayern's treble perhaps required a little less fortune than those. But they still only got the CL winning goal in the 89th minute and almost managed to choke against Arsenal in the Round of 16. 1967 Celtic required very late goals twice in the European Cup, as well as a replay match in the Scottish Cup.

I think the 1971-1972 Ajax team is the only one that also emphatically won a treble without much trouble.

Congratulations CULES :barcascarf: :barcascarf:

Wonderful season and a perfect ending to it, seeing Neymar score at the final whistle and the whole team celebrate together was very special.

THANK YOU XAVI :xavi: :(

Also, the last time a team won every round of the CL knockout stages by at least 2 goals was Dortmund in 1996-1997. And back then, the CL knockout stages were only 3 rounds, instead of 4. They also only finished 2nd in their group in the group stages. So I think we can lay claim to the most consistently dominant CL season ever.

In the European Cup era, only 1970-1971 Ajax and 1959-1960 Real Madrid won every round by at least 2 goals. Of course, those are two of the top few greatest teams ever. And neither one won their league that season, let alone a treble.

Anyways, the point is that our CL season was actually historically dominant.
