He did well with Poland.
Why are everyone repeating this lazy talking point?

Messi was also outstanding with Argentina at the Copa America that they lost to Chile in the final and he was crucified for that regardless of his impecable performance overall in the tourney.

Therefore couldn't give two shits that Lewa scored some goals in the group while his team was last.

Individual performance with a phenomenal Bayern team, yes. Even Choupo-Moting is excellent with this Bayern outfit. How do you think Lewandowski would have done with the Barca team Messi played in?

Hint: check how he did with Poland.

So Messi from 08-12 and Ronaldo 2013, 2016-2018 didnt have a superior team behind them when they won ballon dors ? I doubt that choupo would be able to score 70 goals in a year.

Thanks, i checked it: 11 goals in 12 matches in 2021 while playing for poland, yeah very bad

Today's outcome explains why Pascal Ferr?'s statements last week, when he stated that I confided in him that my only ambition was to finish my career with more Golden Balls than Lionel Messi.

Pascal Ferr? lied, he used my name to promote himself and to promote the publication he works for. It is unacceptable that the person responsible for awarding such a prestigious prize could lie in this way, in absolute disrespect for someone who has always respected France Football and the Ballon d'Or. And he lied again today, justifying my absence from the Gala with an alleged quarantine that has no reason to exist.

I always want to congratulate those who win, within the sportsmanship and fair-play that have guided my career since the beginning, and I do it because I'm never against anyone. I always win for myself and for the clubs I represent, I win for myself and for those who love me. I don't win against anyone.

The biggest ambition of my career is to win national and international titles for the clubs I represent and for the national team in my country. The biggest ambition of my career is to be a good example for all those who are or want to be professional footballers. The biggest ambition of my career is to leave my name written in golden letters in the history of world football.

I will end by saying that my focus is already on Manchester United's next game and on everything that, together with my team-mates and our fans, we can still achieve this season. The rest? The rest is just the rest…

Also , his post is rather fucking hilarious considering that some years ago he literally said to that Piers Morgan dude that his number 1 record wants to be the most ballon d'ors , more that Messi.

What a clown

Imagine comparing 2020/21 Barca to Bayern, holy shit!

you are missing the point dude, having a good team doesnt guarantee you to destroy the other teams, for example look Messi at psg. Even though psg is way stronger than barca he had better stats with us this year.

Hence a loss in the final versus bounced out in group stages. That accounts for the differences in Argentina's strength v Poland's.

Argentina is top 3 in South America, you expect them to at least make the semis just about every time.

Nobody expects Poland to do anything, because they are average, r16 is max.

I never said otherwise. Getting to the Copa finals with Argentina is performing above average.

Exiting in group stages with Poland is performing average or if you really want to stretch it, above average.

Difference is Messi got trolled/ripped for the former while Lewa's Poland stint is viewed as an achievement. Different standards.
