21 - Frenkie de Jong

I was a supporter of de Jong but he doesn't look right since he came back from his injury. Nor does he fit the system very well at the moment. If he's not fit , then that's a shame. But if he is, he needs to desperately mould himself into the system cause flick sure as heck ain't changing the system for him.

Make or break second half of the season it will be.

Nothing good ever came from booing your own players. The Socis were getting outsung all game by a small club and the only time they decided to make some noise was to boo one of their own players.

Pfft, pathetic.

That's why you need the Grada de Animation there. Would not happen on their watch as they are the only true fans in the stadium.

The renewal proposal that Barcelona sent Frenkie de Jong at the end of last year is no longer valid. It was a good offer without a salary reduction from what he's been earning on average.
@ffpolo

Barcelona plan to offload Frenkie de Jong next summer due to underwhelming performances since joining from Ajax, and his refusal to renew his contract. The club fear he aims to leave for free in 2026, but will push for an exit in 2025, either through a transfer or by granting a free release. His €35m salary savings would help financial fair play, in order to make signings. @ferrancorreas

I believe around 25m is his value left on books. So if we could get a offer around that I think club would accept in an instance.

They'll hold out for a good 40-50m for him.
We won't get that for him, he's simply not good enough to bring such money.
His wage is INSANE, 25 mill - should be more like 7-8 mill. I hope he we can ship him out this summer, let him leave for free and we won't have to deal with his ridiculous wage. But we HAVE to learn from this, we need a wage structure and not give mediocre players stupid contracts.

His amortization is around 10.7M per year, assuming he was bought for 80M, a little less than 11.5M per year if the maximum valuation (86M, all bonuses to Ajax were paid) was paid.

At most, 17.2M remaining in January.

25M is also the amount I expect for him. If he signs for 5 years in another club, it will be just 5M in amortization for them. It will allow him to demand a big contract, similar to what he could ask as free agent. Will get a good deal elsewhere, and allow the club to get a bit of profit.

A lot will depend on how the season play out though. If Pedri remains healthy, he will be mostly a bench player and it should force him out

World Cup year coming up too. His place was guaranteed but it isn't anymore with emerging CMs like Gravenberch and Reijnders. Perhaps there is a spot for him at the moment but you never know who might popup until 1.5 years and especially if Frenkie is playing max 30 minutes for his club regularly.

Even though Koeman got a soft spot and a personal relationship with him I doubt even he will start Frenkie over those two unless he plays regularly.

World Cup alone will help us move on from him if that's what they decide to do.

And I think Koeman can be blunt and tell him he needs to get more playing time if he keeps getting benched by Flick to be considered a starter for NL.
