21 - Frenkie de Jong

Talent has never been the issue with him, if that's what you point out as to why he will start of casado, you are missing the point.

Casado is more positionally aware and tactically discipline, which is two things you need in order to play a single pivot, which is functionally what flick is playing.

If he start over casado it's because he's working on those two things, plus his talent, it's always the intangibles with him.

And he most certainly won't massively improve a 7 and 0 team, but that's what his fans will say as per usual.

Sport reporting we are working to pay him his deferred wages and sell him in the summer.

Because we have multiple players now who can play in the two positions he excels at in flicks system.

Bernal
Casado
As DM

Gavi
Pedri
As box to box/CM.

Makes sense to be honest.

Too much sense for it to be true.

Yeah but all of them are injury prone, Casado and Bernal are very raw and the latter is out for a year. I wouldn't put out too much trust in Pedri in staying injury free long term.

On paper it looks so but on a closer look it's not really like that.

Frenkie if he returns to his pre 23/24 form will be a nailed on starter. He's vastly more talented than Casado and I imagine the club being in a better spot will help him as well. Also disagree with Jamrock, "playing well when the team plays well" is not a bad thing. It applies to 99.9% of players and 99.99% of all midfielders.

Frenkie runs half as many kms per game than Casado
Also Casado is great ball recycler at DM releasing it quickly one-touch, and picking the right options
Instead of frenkie dwelling on the ball for long and destroying the tempo and the urgency of our buildup

Then Casado is many years younger.
Surely doesn't look good on De Fraud.
Both him and Berna will bench him even if he stays beyond next summer

If Casado and Bernal after his injury continue to perform like that for a fraction of Frenkie's salary, then it makes sense to sell him, free up a huge ffp margin and get some money for urgent problems in the squad. But we have to wait and see how he'll perform this season, and what Flick wants to do with him.

I'm sure De Jong will get the sane chance all players should get under a new manager. It's a dangerous game though relying on two very young players who don't have experience in big games. They clearly have the talent but need to be allowed to make mistakes, then learn from them. It's too much pressure to rely solely on them to perform week in, week out. Young players by their very nature are inconsistent.

Do you think he still has passion? Because he could thrive under Flick, but it's clear that he only wants performers, not bums like the shark.

Frenkie de Jong: "People talk a lot about whether I had to have surgery or not and whether the club said that I had to have surgery and that I didn't want to. That is not true because everyone at the club agreed that not having surgery was the best option."

How media lied about all this surgery stuff tells me a lot of other things on him are probably made up as well

Let's hope we get the best version of this guy under Flick and his transfer finally pays off, so this massive agenda on him stops
