Folk who think he could have been anywhere near stopping the first two or last have zero clue what watching.

Usual folk.

The third possibly but that was FDJ and Inigo trying to get across to man Pedri let drift off.

Very good game indeed.

Kounde fucks up and leaves defence exposed twice and its fault of DM.

Top logic from the usuals who refuse to comment on the real culprits.

Gavi was once again worse than a man disadvantage, destabilising everyone around him on defense, doing nothing in attack.
Frankie was OK, my opinion is cassado when in form can a better fit for DM. He may had bad games (more good games ratio + age on his side though) but he has clicked better overall. perhaps if instead of Gavi he was utilised we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Lamine takes many many risks so mistakes are more often, but rarely (not never) hurt the team on defense. I still have issues with him but then realise he is a kid and just wait to see him grow up.

I'm not his biggest fan, but he wasn't the problem today. He was one of the better players this game. Gavi was worse. Only criticism I have is flick not moving FDJ to the CAM position and bringing in casado at DM

Frenkie de Jong: ‘Atlético is a team that is always fighting with us for the championship and Copa del Rey, competing in the Champions League. They're a top team and any mistake against them can lead to a goal against them. But we're also a top team. The second leg will be great and we're looking forward to it.’

Flick today, clarified the different playing styles between Cassado and Frenkie...pretty much that we have said here. He uses them both for their different strengths/profiles depending on match the match requirements......no one player is better than the other.

He admitted Frenkie is more experienced and Cassado the younger one is having a wonderful 1st year experience in top-flight football.

Best match of the season from him. Raised up for occasion. Credit, where it's due. Also seems he really wants to prove himself this time around. Was agitated and diligent all match long, not losing focus as much as has been criticized for.

The difference on the ball between him and Casado is huge.

Could see it today again. Casado was passing it far too early and hoofing it wildly about a few times when needed more calm.

Casado won a couple tackles but was also careering about pitch chasing ball and taking on the last defender.. not ideal when down to 10 men and on as a DM.

He's simply class. That's all there is to it.

Can't believe some certain people actually think Gavi is better... not even close.

Lahoz saying it was a foul and ref should have looked.

More see it more inclined to agree.

The softer defending was Pedri and the CBs.
