23 - Jules Kounde

When we can buy again

a starting top notch RB is a must

Kounde ain't it.
As a makeshift he had been decent, but we can't reach the extra level as a team with an RB who doesn't know how to handle the ball, and gets constantly found out by mismarking and mispositioning himself as RB

That's what happens when players get too big in their heads. Happened before with Kounde as well.
That's what's happening to him. All of a sudden these last weeks the guy takes risks like there is no tomorrow ! Tries to take on players overly with his limited acceleration, and tries fancy passes too..

Koune is a good enough RB for barca, he just needs to be humble again and keep it simple and reduce his risk-taking tendency, a lot !

There is a world where Barca signs Trent Alexander Arnold and he pairs with Lamine to form the nastiest right side since Messi/Alves.

Would require selling Kounde/Araujo to make this happen. I think Kounde and Cubarsi would make a sick long term CB pairing but I digress nothing like this would happen anyways

He was really good paired with Lamine, as Lamine destroyed that whole side. He is not and will never be a complete fullback that can hold the entire pitch length like Alves did. Fermin did him absolutely no favours in this game with his bad movement and overall shit play.

TAA can't tiki taka, but neither can creampie.

I think he's a very good player, I do rate him, I am not getting on his case. However, in this instance,, I tend to agree with @Birdy that an actual, conventional right-back would be better. A player who can consistently attack like Alves used to (not as good as him, obviously). What Kounde does seem to provide though is defensive solidity as a CB playing as an unconventional full-back, but for me there should be a square peg in a square hole.

It's nothing against him - I am just unsure of this general trend of playing CBs at FB that has come back into fashion. I think Kounde could probably move back to his CB role again and provide an option there, with a more conventional RB.

I think long-term this would be best, especially to supplement Yamal (but again it is just my humble opinion).
