Still a bad defender. I saw a lot of lapses last night. Play him against a great side and we will get exposed and punished severely. Always hesitant to tackle and makes too many unforced errors.

Didn't said he defended badly but defending isn't the best of his qualities as a defender which is itself an issue that will became more and more evident with passing time.

It wont become more evident as everyone can see what he is now and his defending has already improved last few games.

What will happen is some folk will ignore the good games and melt down any team he has moments of bad defending.

For now he is Barcas best CB and will be well worth his place in squad going forward but the argument is going to change to him not being good enough to not being world class.

Need to see him in more games against good quality teams to see what he is or to say he's better than Araujo. He can perform good against the minnows, we know that, this is a problem many of our players and ex players, especially young ones have (or perhaps us overestimating their performance). Particularly as a CB you can't really judge how good they are against Dynamo Kyiv or Rayo because these are teams that sit back and only attack a few times a game.

Didn't make any errors against Madrid in his defense. If he can keep being solid against the good teams he'll be a fixture in no time, but that is the hardest part for a defender like him.

You seem overly optimistc about him but you could be right in the end. He seems way too shaky defensively against serious opposition though imo is a bit too early to tell.

Araujo needs to prove himself too. Last time we saw him in a big game he was shambles.
