The same. But we maybe already have that quicker CB in Araujo.
Araujo isn't that fast. If a CB is supposed to catch pacy attackers he needs to be wicked fast, like Varane, otherwise it's pace for CB isn't that big of a deal.
The same. But we maybe already have that quicker CB in Araujo.
Varane top speed is 34.04 km/h. Araujo clocked 34.9km/h versus Alaves, presumably on that sprint where the attacking ended off side.
Perhaps he is deceptively quick and lacks acceleration (haven't really analysed his speed from resting, he is built like a tank in the lower half though) compared to Varane.
Busquets is regarded slow yet has top speed of 33.64 in his prime, lol. So that right there goes to show that in general acceleration>pace in football (Messi top speed in his prime was 32.27- slower than Biscuit Tin Surge).
I would like it very much if Garcia returned, trust in the cantera
City just signed Nathan Ake for 45m.
Looking more and more likely that Garcia ends up back here.
Is he even good? I watched 2-3 games and not impressed at all. Not the type of CB I want. City fans describe him as intelligent but lack psychical attributes and very slow.
Doesn't sound interesting to me.
Pique is in steady and awful decline.
Some flashes of his past here and there, but for the most part he is a liability nowadays.
A serious club would have looked for his replacement already couple of seasons ago.
And tbh Tobido has shown great signs the few times he played. If the club was not run by clowns and jokers, Tobido would be already phasing Pique out gradually.
Garcia looks promising, looks like someone that maybe can take Pique's place (although Tobido has shown more potential than Garcia IMO).
Of course the problem is that Pique is part of the Amigos core, so unless discipline within the squad gets reinstated again, the talk about Garcia or anyone else replacing him is futile...
Garcia knows that he will be warming the bench for an old and horrible Pique and wasting one or more years of his development if he comes. Why would he come?
Whats the harm? Hes low risk, high reward. We wont find anyone better than Pique and Lenglet for a reasonable price either. But to be fair I want us to heavily gamble on youth right now. Pique, Lenglet, Araujo and Garcia looks risky, but we should still be able to compete with Real, who dont look likely to make major changes.
Next year, hopefully post Corona, we will see what sticks (Garcia, Ansu, Pedri, Puig, Trincao...) and can act accordingly.
