Heard it can be extended for another year if he performs and wants to stay.

Now the next job is to find our next GK, and kick the terrorist out of the club.

The reason he was underrated all these years is because of modern Football's silly obsession with GKs doing everything other than actual goalkeeping.

That's why GKs like MATS are overrated. Fuck ball playing skills. Give me a great shot stopper anyday. Cringe at people prioritizing passing ability over shot stopping in goalies. Utter woke nonsense. Game's gone.

To be fair now the GK Position in this day in age has changed a lot in the last 10-15 years now. These days, Keepers are more adept with the ball and obviously sweeping as well.

The era of old-school Goal Keepering as in just being a Pure shotstopper and nothing else, is gone now. Goalkeepers have to be able to do more now.

I can see why Zubi, at the time, was so invested in bringing in Ter Stegen. He had the tools and potential to be our long term GK, being so good on the ball while also being a modern-day sweeper keeper.

I'm not sure what happened with Mats over the years. He came up Big a number of times in the League, but something just didn't click for him in Europe. He struggled to impose himself, and it just seemed like he couldn't save even weak shots.

GK is one position where you need to have the intangible factors going for you.

You need aura, personality, confidence, character, etc.

A good GK automatically makes the back 4 much more relaxed and confident. It rubs off on the entire team.

Most of the big keepers have a big personality. Kahn, Neuer, Buffon, Schmeichel, etc. Tek definitely has that.

Keepers in Sidemen charity games have more personality and presence than MATS in CL games. The new hair didn't change shit.

Very simple math: with Wojtek, Barcelona hasn’t lost a game yet, and the streak is already quite long. There have been various tough matches, so well… the league is won, the Champions League is in the bag, the Copa del Rey is a walk in the park, and the season will be a success

This goes for lot of stuff in football.
Gk needs to be those things you mentioned if you aim to win something big( example, argentina with romero on goal would lose 4 more finals)
Coach: i saw that someone earlier posted cl points per game overall since cl 1990 i think.
In first 10 are : rijkaard, guardiola, enrique
Coincidence that we won cl with them on helm? I think not.
And without those 2 you cant build quality foundations for rest of the squad.
You can have mediocre players on some positions, but gk needs to be war ready if you want to win something.
Unless your name is prime barcelona and you could have even gk from juvenile category
