Alonso is levels above if we are honest, even those guys like Alonso, Kessie, Depay etc were important because they were able experienced alternatives to bring off the bench. We wish to have backups such as those right now.
Depay isn't really better than Ferran tbh, even if he could score a little bit better, Kessie atm isn't missed either. We are fairly stacked in midfield.
Alonso is better than Martin, but at the end niether were good enough. Never mind that Albs was the backup LB in Alonso first season, and Cancelo was the backup in 2nd season. Those are the ones we really miss.
That really didn't make any sense, I also think there is more to this story that we know. , I'm sure he would be a lot better than Martin.
I think it is the usual case of a coach having an unorthodox opinion. Many coaches have a weird player they rate more than the fans. Flick trusts Martin, more than he does with Valle & Fort.
It is the wrong decision, but I don't think there is "more" in that.
