Balde is not good under pressure either due to his dead right leg. He tries making it up for it with speed but not great at it

The problem with Gerard Martin vs. Balde is that Balde is able to use his pace and ball carrying ability(inconsistent I know) to provide width in attack allowing Raphinha to go inside.
Martin cannot do that. Which means Flick will need to tweak his tactics or have Raphinha be more out wide limiting his ability to make those runs inside for big chances.
Might work if Olmo actually is available though and don't break down like a 90s model French car all the time.

You're right. Fortunately, Olmo is returning and he can take on some of the Raphinha's tasks.

Said it yesterday.. if Raphinha stays on left he will have to be wider more as cant be expecting Gerard to do what Balde does and take that width really.
Then if you are playing a more defensive LB then likes of Fort becomes an option also.

Our season is done and the league is won. Only thing that's worrying me right now is the upcoming transfer window.
I watch Barca games as long as Lewy stays on the pitch so I have opinions on other Barca players too.
I'll take that as a positive and assume that you appreciate my Barca related opinions lately.
Barca isn't even my favourite La Liga team so I can't see that ever happening.

To be fair to him also even if we were hard on him at the start of the season is the highest he's ever played was in the Third Division for our B team, and Cornelia as well.
Went from playing in potato pitches and unpolished football with a few B teams here and there to actual top-level football against much higher-level players.
Actually, he seems like he has a pretty good football brain, though. While he's not gifted in various aspects of the game, he is well aware of his limitations and his strengths.
Not sure of his future in this team long term, but he definitely has a future here in the league if he decides to depart.

As said yesterday they may have to change that so Gerard tucks in as LCB and Kounde takes more with with Lamine coming centrally more than in past with Raphinha taking more of width on left.
It is more akin to the position Lamine will take over time anyway.

Terrible with the ball and usually deferring to Cubarsi, held his own in defense against Couto until BVB realised he is the weak link and attacked him endlessly
