maybe we should retire the # 5 in honor of Puyee
Unfortunately impossible with the 1-25 squad number rule in Spain.

Tello was promoted midseason, if I recall correctly. So he kept the #37 for the rest of the season. When the following season started, he had to wear a number in the 1-25 range. Not that this has anything to do with Puyol or his #5, just trying to figure it out...
I'm trying to calculate this but it makes my brain hurt.
Is this a new rule?
I guess B team players that are added to the squad are allowed to wear numbers higher than 25, but for example, Tello wore 37 for a season or two after he was officially promoted to the first team. Surely cases like that leave a 1-25 squad number open without being used. I guess you could retire numbers like that, as long as you have enough players that were promoted from the B-system. For example, we didn't have anyone wearing 24 at some point, did we?
Milan have sounded out Puyol, but there are no talks ongoing. Qatari club Al Sadd is trying to convince the centre back to join them. [sky]

I bet Pique is going to take Puji's number.
