6 - Carles Alena

Unlike Arthur, De Jong and Rabiot he is a true interior.

Good game. Keep it up.

Also spent 4? years with the B-team without complaints

He was with the B team for 2 years, last season was his second, and it was clear he could have probably been promoted during last season as well. He was with them early this season but that was only due to his injury in the last game of last season, which would not have happened if he'd have just been promoted...

Good game, he is getting better and better! Finally someone with great potential from La Masia.

Yes, finally. Even in his first games with the first team he's showing much more than any La Masia player has in quite a while. He seems like he genuinely belongs here and under a manager who wasn't having an affair with certain players he'd be in the squad much more.

I once had a lot of faith in Samper but we all know how that ended up. But in his case, I really feel bad to what happened with him and his horrible luck with Injuries.

Alena was hyped up quite a bit but recently with the emergence of Puig, Alena has become underrated and people forgot just how good a talent Alena really is. He's getting better and better with the game time he's getting in the league and I look forward to him more.

4 seasons perhaps make sense.
15-16: Half-promoted to the B team (got regular call-ups during the second half of the season)
16-17: Full season in the Segunda B
17-18: Full season in the Segunda A
18-19: Played few matches with the B team in the Segunda B

I used to argue that Aleñá is the best midfielder talent from La Masia since Iniesta and I believe he is proving more and more that it wasn't so much exaggeration.
Hope he keeps improving and proving he was worth the hype without suffering any major injuries.

Looks promising and has some dynamism to him. Want him to play most every league game as starter or sub. Let's get a better look at what we have and see how he reacts.

It may be that the Valencia game was his breakout performance: he was our best midfielder against quality opposition. Too bad he did not score, it was close!

Central midfielders or interiors with high constant A+G are gold. Those kind of players are very rare. Think Lampard. High G+A and really good defending.

We are lucky to have Alena here. But he always goes left. If he could go right sometimes, it would improve him so much.

What would you guys say his market value is?

You can't really say he played 4 seasons there "Without complaint" if one season was him playing up as a Juvenil and another was him regaining match fitness for a few games.

I hope De Jong is last midfielder we'll buy for a while. With Arthur and De Jong here and Alena playing better and better we are very well covered for the future. Not to mention Puig is also waiting in line... :)

Arthur-1996

Frenkie-1997

Alena-1998

Puig-1999

Thought that was interesting to point out. It's very risky but you could also make a 4 man Midfield with all of these guys out on the pitch with Alena at the tip of the Diamond. With Arthur/FDJ as a #6 and Puig along with either Arthur/Frenkie as the other CM.

I mean sure the Midfield would be defensively raw but still I would actually pay to see this in action.
