6 - Gavi

Pedri been far better than Gavi since broke through.

All there is to it.

Gavi doesnt show enough qualty and needs to improve massively.

Personality is abilty to perform consistently to high level in game... Pedri has that is spades over Gavi at this point.

I see narrative changing from Gavi being 'bigger talent' though. As expected.

Gavi has played more games yes.. quality wise of both players not even close and it is nothing but deflection away from another poor Gavi perofrmance.

Complete rubbish. He's more overrated because he's cuter on the ball. But between injuris and physical level, Gavi is far more reliable and important for the team.

First Pedri needs to play a season without major time off. Then we can talk. As of now, Gavi is more important for the team.

Pedri first needs to work on his body so he can cope with the rigors of professional football at the top. Then we can talk. Until then, talent is not nearly enough. That's all there is to it. I know Barca fans are usually delusional and jizz themselves when they see a technical player dreaming of Iniesta and Messi, but get real.

Pedri has been missing a lot of games. Last season, and this season as well. Seems like when the season is getting more intense and physically more demanding, he gets some kind of physical problems.

The way you make Gavi out it's as if he is some super athlete. He's not. His upside physically is he's very energetic and has a lot of stamina but other than that, he's small weak and slow.

Someone like Balde who you are comparing him to is incredible physically. Strong, fast and explosive and has a tank.

Even compared to Pedri not sure Gavi is all that much better than him physically.

The most worrying thing about Gavi is it doesn't seem he has improved much if at all from his debut season. He may be young now but the years go by quick and more of this and he will become another failed hope that didn't reach the heights they were predicted to. Balde and Pedri are the opposite, they have come leaps and bounds since they first came on the scene, especially Balde, who many were not keen on even for Barca B.

Seems that the problem is that recently he wants to act the hard man and run around shoving people, diving, rather than showing his talent on the ball and actually playing football. He does work very hard off-the-ball, his work ethic and pressing is undoubtedly valuable, but if he wants to become a world-class mid he needs to drop hard man stuff and start producing on the ball.

First Gavi needs to show a season where he is anywhere near Pedri/FDJ on abilty and show much more on ball and get known for quality more than agression.

Whenever Gavi is on the ball in midfield I'm expecting a turnover or a near miss. Needs to majorly improve on the ball. Age shouldn't really factor into our decision making as much as we allow it to. If he was 25+ he wouldn't even be in our squad. Of course that's the case with many youngsters who are raw but likes of Musiala/Bellingham/Pedri etc who are all outstanding youngsters are far better on the ball than Gavi is. I worry this is just his ability. Love his fight, passion and personality although takes it too far sometimes. And he has had the odd very good performance on the ball.

Gavi plays utter shite and some try to deflect it to be about Pedri being injured more.

Funny how injuries have all gone to be fault of player now when in past all been about medical teams and coaches etc.

Usual mental gymnastics from usual folk.

He has a lot of improving to do physically. And I value physicality a lot pesonally.

Gavi is not really a physically talented player. He's small, slow and weak. It's not exactly a star athlete that you are portraying him as. His talent physically is that he has a ton of energy and inexhaustible tank but compared to an athlete like Balde is light years away and wouldn't say he is better than Pedri physically either.

The worrying thing with Gavi is he hasn't improved much if at all from his debut season, whilst Balde and Pedri that you mention came leaps and bounds since they first broke through, especially Balde, who some didn't even want in Barca B let alone a world-class level with the first-team that he's showing now. Gavi may be young but the years go quickly. A few more years of this and he can become another failed talent who didn't reach the heights he was expected to reach.

He has talent on the ball and showed it far more in his first season, but recently seems more obsessed with acting the hard man and shoving people, diving, crying for fouls, rather than showing his quality.

It must be said that his work ethic and pressing is invaluable and a huge asset to the team, to have a player who runs and works that hard every game on a consistent basis is a huge positive, but to become a world-class mid he needs to show more on the ball.

I would say Gavi and Pedri are quite oppsites. Gavi has to up his technicality, get less aggressive and temper out a bit while keeping this physical edge that he has. And Pedri has to grow in this areas, get more physical, more resilient, get into challenes and cope with the intense football of higher tempo games better.

Not trying to make this into a Gavi is god and Pedri is shit type of discussion. Just that based on what I saw so far, I am more confident that Gavi will turn up a better player. Atm they are extremely close.

Gavi doesnt show enough qualty and needs to improve massively and have more to crow about than 'he gets injured less'. Plenty players with good injury records who havent been good enough.. very few with class of Pedri.

19 passes and being poor for Spain and Ceballos coming on to be much better is not a good look.

Up there with his game of 9 passes during WC.
