7 - Ferran Torres

I see I haven’t missed anything during my winter hiatus.

Ping me when Bellingham’s looks are on the table. Tnx.
To be fair other guys mentioned Grealish in here, then someone brought up his looks - I was just compelled to say I thought his looks were overrated.

There's been loads of football discussion too.

Was useless today. Lewa should have been on the field instead of him.

His movement was semi-okayish. But HIS FIRST-TOUCH IS A TOTAL CRAP.

At the end when there was no Yamal, Lewa and when Pedri or Raphinha tried to link with him, it was a disaster. Seemed like a wooden soldier.

His can be useful, when there is a lot of free space and one has ages to handle the ball.

But opposition allowed very little space at the back, and he was totally lost and lost the ball too many times.

Torres is over-hated and underrated. He is the opposite of Frenkie. As bad as he can be sometimes he somehow comes up with a lot of goals and assists. Averages about 0.8 G/A per 90mins. Unexpectedly decent stats.

Underrated does not mean he is great or even good. But it does mean he isn't complete ass like say Ansu Fati is now after his unfortunate career. Hell, he is better than Fermin/Torre/Pau Victor when they play forward roles.

So, maybe we hope he pulls something out against Atleti and gets us into the winter break happy. If he can help do that it would be huge for the 2nd half of the season.

I get what you're saying, but Barca paid 55 million for el tiburon.

And he went months without any goals.

Do we even 100% know who was really behind this transfer? Complete opposite of the Barca type, I don't buy that Xavi wanted him.

55m was way too much. I reckon if we paid 20m for him fans would have a different opinion of his play.

We were sold something that wasn't true by Pep. Xavi fell for the trap. Spanish International/Played La Liga/Pep connection, all played their parts. Also at that time we were in complete desperation mode.

In Laporta's first 6 months we signed Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero and then Ferran from City.

I think this deal was more than just Xavi, but one of Laporta's old mate deals where we could get a "top" player, pay a little more but have favourable installments.

The false dawn of the shark, happens every year.

Yea like I said before, if we didn't pay up to 65m for him, he would be a solid sqaud.

His signing wasn't as simple as Xavi wanted him, the payment terms city gave us were every friendly and I think it also players apart, obviously we still shouldn't have done it.

He’s a player you ideally wanna move on from but can live with in the squad.

Absolute waste of money though.

If we were the ones who signed him for 23m from Valencia instead of City he would have been a decent signing for two reasons.

1. You wouldn't expect great things or at least be so disappointed if he was just average or a rotation option considering he didn't cost an awful much.

2. His salary would definitely be much lower.

In that case we would already moved on from him. We usually don't keep underperforming 20-30m signings for too long.
