So according to RAC1 the negotiations are very well advanced but the Nike "leak" made it a bit more difficult. Sounds like the deal would've been already done if Nike didn't fuck it up.

Liverpool have stalled it to save face a little after the Nike leak and make it seem like they were extracting the best deal

I still believe it’s 50/50 whether he’ll come or not. Only thing which I am sure of is that if we don’t sign him until 14th of January we wont sign him at all. So if he plays against City it’s all over.

Why are we buying him now that we close to win the league?

-Rest for Iniesta
-Why in summer when we can have him now for the same sum?
-Why risking other teams joining a bidding war?
-It is a world cup - year so the summer will come fast. Prices likely to skyrocket after recent transfers and the fact that it is a world cup -year.
-We already wanted him in summer so the transfer would be 5 months late and not a few months earlier.
-Brazil will come far in the world cup and Coutinho very likely will miss most of the pre-season. Better to integrate him now.
-Atlético will get a boost due to Costa and Vitolo. 2 losses of Barcelona and Atléti is back in the race. The league is not that secured as some believe. There are some tough months ahead.
