Watching through some highlights and I'm again reminded of some of the stand-out qualities I noticed yesterday.

- His first touch and control is so good that he is able to receive the ball in tight spaces and not lose his composure, usually dribling out of pressure with a simple move.

- He always lifts his eyes to look for options around him at the right moment while running with the ball up the pitch.

- his offensive passing is extremely precise, and he does it while in his step so that it's not telegraphed at all. This quality reminds me a lot of Messi, who does the same thing to perfection. Also, the power he puts into some of these ground hugging upward passes are just below a shot at goal, so they really have the potential to cut through both one and two lines of defense.

A really impressive performance considering it was his first match with us, with the pressure of being at home with all eyes on him from a packed stadium. Yet he still managed to quickly find his composure and confidence. Can't wait to see what the future brings with this guy. :)

Looked really good out there. I was never really rating Coutinho that high until the last season but right now I am really happy he is with us and I am sure he will be a great player for Barca.

Actually, his off the ball movement was the first thing I noticed- he moves to receive much quicker than other Barça players- which means he will be open more often and will see the ball more.

He was in many times in positions where Alba or Messi was going to aor was already at it, he will need to understand his teammates movement which is normal considering he is playing first game

There have been some incredible players to join this team in the last few years. Villa, Neymar, Suarez top my list. But not even these legends have instantly looked like they belonged the way Coutinho did yesterday.

The only team that comes close to the individual ball skills of Barca is the Brazil national team. Even by those lofty standards, this young man stands out. Of course, I love Iniesta, and I love Neymar. It's hard for me to say it, but Coutinho has near Iniesta-level skills receiving the ball, but he clearly is much more likely to instantly begin an effective attack. Coutinho seems to have close to Neymar-level ability to dribble around/through defenders, and close to the Neymar-level aggression level, without the excessive ego, and less likely to try the impossible. It seems like his eyes are always up, looking for his teammates. As he gets used to them and vice versa, he is going to be devastating.

I was wondering if he would be more of a forward or a midfielder, question answered. He is going to be one of the front middle guys in the midfield of the 4-4-2. I don't know if he will move ahead of Iniesta or Rak, but Coutinho will be in the first 11. Barca only needs two forwards, and it is not possible to improve on the current staffing of those two positions.
