Makes me think....Good luck to whoever takes #10 from Messi in the future.

That is going to carry a lot of weight.

I think we should retire it (and I'm generally against retiring numbers but this is a proverbial one off). I feel it would help Messi achieve true GOAT status.


If football fans wanted to see our number 10 shirt, it would only be found at the club's museum, with Messi's name on it, the best player in history.


Edit: Plus, we could continue selling shirts with Messi's name on it forever. Our perennial number 10 (making sure he'd get a piece of the action of course).

I don't think that is a good idea. There is so much mythology associated with the Number 10 and we want that to continue with great players in the future.

How good Villa was well outweighs his injuries..

That is simply not true. Villa was nothing special for Barca, he had a good season, not even a great one. Then next season he broke his leg, and his Barca career was over. After that he was sold to Atleti for what 4 mil, where he scored a goal against us and celebrated like crazy. I don't get it why Villa is having such a legendary status with Barca supporters.

The reality is both Pedro and Villa were good players for us, but nothing special, they were lucky playing with prime Xavi, Messi, Iniesta, Alves, Puyol. Those two combined scored 93 goals in their three seasons together, while Messi in the same period scored 186, double of what they scored. Just imagine Suarez instead any of those two and how much our attack would have been better.

Villa had 1 good year he wasn't good overall.
