8 - Pedri

I would love for some of the more critical users here to name just one midfielder that looked more impressive at his age. Not saying he's destined for greatness, but he's absolutely ridiculous.

Or name a talent they would rather have at the moment.

I'll reply to this, as some of my posts could've been seen as being critical, although I think I always tried to repeat that he is obviously great for his age, that I do like his style, and so on.
I thought he found space better than he usually does today, and he could make a couple of easy through balls because of that. He had a very good game.

I maintain that I don't think he'll be the right midfielder for Barcelona if they are looking to control games though, especially not in a duo with Frenkie - although I like both players and want them to play for Barcelona in different positions (Pedri further forward, FdJ further back).
But it's a bit tough to compare to other midfielders, as most of them break through while a couple years older. I can only think of Iniesta and Thiago at the same age, and they were both a bit more impressive I think (although I didn't get to see them as much obviously, I only saw their senior games). Fabregas made a bigger mark while younger, but I didn't really rate him extremely highly then, and I think Pedri can have a better carreer.
I think I'd rate Puig, Busquets, Verratti, Modric higher than Pedri if I got to see them as much when they were 18.

At 18 is a complete different class to what the likes of Puig will ever be.

Absolute ignorance to even compare Puig to him positively.

Busi at 18 - playing for Barca Juvenil A
Verratti at 18 - playing for Pescara in Serie B
Modric at 18 - started to play for Dinamo Zagreb first team

Puig at 18 - has played three games for Barca B in Segunda (remember Pedri has played over 30 games as a 16 years old for Las Palmas at the same level, lol)

Pedri at 18 - over 50 games for Barca first team and a starter for Spain at Euro

I won't say he'll have as good career as the first three mentioned players but he's better developed than they were at the same age.

And he's already million years ahead of where Riqui will ever be.

Pedri has only two years worth of first-team football with Las Palmas and us and he's only 18.

Now he's a starter for Spain at 18 years old and he's having an excellent Euros. There's a good reason why Thiago, Fabian Ruiz, Llorente etc can't even get a sniff in the Midfield, it's because Pedri has been far better than them.

This is a prime example of why people should never listen to the La Masia headcases on this forum.

If it were up to them, we would have ditched Pedri and given his minutes to that frat house wannabe merchant Puig.

It's true this fanbase of ours will never be united on things, heck on here everyone at some point has butted heads against each other, the old Neymar wars on here were a perfect example of it.

But perhaps one of the most bizarre I've seen in recent memory is there's a certain segment of the fanbase that will always be negative on Pedri and instead of going "Wow we got ourselves a gem" they'll find something to crap on him on and try to prop up a certain player and claim he's a better fit for us and Pedri isn't.

They'll tell you Pedri isn't a Central Midfielder, but an LW/10 and there's no way he can be converted even though the dude has been bossing it as a CM all year and currently in the Euros for Spain. Just because the kid started out as a#10 doesn't mean he couldn't have been converted. Hell, he played in a Double pivot for Las Palmas quite a bit and did pretty well. And oh btw the kid was 16 and 17 years old when he played for Las Palmas and when he got here so he has plenty of time to develop.

Like it's incredible that he's a starter for Spain, especially at his age. The guy rise this quickly at his age is truly something, I can understand raiting Puig high, but come on man let us appreciate what we have with Pedri, the kid is taking the world by storm.
