8 - Pedri

Pedri: "The new coaching staff made changes in the gym... The way we train, suit me much better. We have found the right way with the physios and the coaches. I think they have a big role in that."

Pedri: "I dedicate the same amount of time to training as I did before. The only thing I've changed is the way I train, not the hours or the time I put in."

You've hardly rested this season...

Pedri: "One day I was rested because I had a stomach problem... But I'm one of those players that maybe it's better not to stop playing or not to be rested. I don't know if my body even needs 30 minutes of rest."

Pedri: "Because of my current physical condition, it is better for my body to be constantly playing... Many times I prefer to have 30 minutes of play and maintain the rhythm of the matches, rather than stopping suddenly and waiting for two weeks before returning to play."

Pedri: "Staying at Barça at least until 2030? I didn't expect it. When I came here, at first I slept in a hotel, I went to sleep with my brother, and I always said to him: 'Wow, I did a good training session, I hope I get lucky and stay here.'"

It's not all surprising once he was moved into an influential deeper role he's been performing at a world-class level this season. He just isn't a #10/SS like he was being used mostly in the last couple of years.

Leave that #10/AM role to the likes of Olmo, Fermin, Torre, Raphinha and Keep Pedri cooking down deep.

Still no explaination from Xavi why he used Pedri mostly as a #10 last season.

I am sorry but Raphinha could win the Bdor. Pedri has been fantastic, so has Cubarsi, Yamal etc.

Raphinha has been the best.
Thanks to scoring and assisting. BDO almost always goes to attackers (Rodri last year was a one off) I think Pedri is much more important to the team at the moment. With Rapha and Lamine 2nd and 3rd. Rapha is quite inconsistent at times, but thanks to his determination, hard work and persistance scores and assists important goals.

Pedri gives us the control and was the best player in the midfield on both of the teams in most matches. Even in the dark part of the season (November-December) Pedri's level didn't drop and was sometimes a 1 man midfield.

That's just my 5 cents, not to undermine Rapha's (and Lamine's) importance.

All I here is Gravenberch this, Gravenberch that. You can take your Gravenberches and shove it where the sun don't shine. I have not seen a better midfielder this season than him.

His ability on the ball is on a completely different level to Gravenberch. It's like comparing Messi to Ronaldo all again. One an artist, the other a try hard.

Pedri is the best. And the fans are not doing enough telling the world about it.

To be fair they are very different players with different roles, Gravenberch very seldom locks up a defense and is very seldom looking for the final pass, what he does very well though is in a breaking up play and collects the ball, he is very good in a more defensive role protecting his backline. He also has that majestic flow over him when he gets away with the ball. Add to that he is very strong and can outmuscle most players for the ball. So rather than to comparing him with Pedri he might be a fanastic complement, more so than any of our players.
