8 - Pedri

Age has nothing to do with it. It wasn't nerves that made him useless today. He wasn't a better or worse player than in any of those La Liga games where he looked impressive.

The difference was the opponent. At that tempo at that level, he's not going to make a difference in a million years.

Nah he was clearly nervous and you're being disingenuous if thinking otherwise.

PSG didn't impress me too much
Pedri was slightly worse today than usually, but mostly the problem had to do with his and De Jongs positioning, together with a poor attacking trio (two due to lack of talent).
They could neither penetrate or keep the ball, and when they lost it, they couldn't win it back or get into position.

Still a kid who cant and wont save us. Lets see how good he will progress in the future because right now its maybe enough because of the shit squad we have but if we somehow manage to reach a wc lv again he will need to be much better to compete at this high lv.

People see him as great talent.I don't.I just watched enough players during my ''time'' and even when they were young and inexperienced, they still had that certain something that stood up and made me think:wow,he is gonna be great.Pedri doesn't have that aura.He is a tidy player, but that is all.No more than a midtable quality medfielder. Not suitable for Barca...if we ant to win trophies in the future that is.

Your patience is really heartwarming, He is just suffering from being overplayed, in a dysfunctional team against an opponent that where better in every aspect.
I understand the disappointment but come on, he has played 2/3 of a season for us and is 18 years old and you want to write him off already?
On this forum your truly not better than your last game, sign of the times i guess.

Yes this is very obvious, how the threads change before/after a game!

He is very talented and should not really be too criticized for playing a bad game against PSG, Koeman has to take the blame for that.
But he really was not good enough.
He played only 23 (!) passes in 78 minutes, and less than 4/5 found its target (lowest % in the team). He also lost the ball thrice more by being dispossesed or having a bad touch.
He did at least win the ball a couple of times, but god, how slow did he look in the pressing movements?
The defensive setup was strange, having Busquets defend as a #10, but how passive was Pedri+De Jong?

He's a great talent, the fact he broke through so quickly at 18 is remarkable. Pedri needs games like this to refine his game and of course also the experience is much different. Not like playing against mediocre La Liga teams.

Was poor, many mistakes, couldn't keep up.

But it's no surprise usual suspects are out there trying to end his career. Lol

He was really bad and ineffective bar that early defence splitting pass. It didn't help that he was basically playing in the role of a support-striker, with no striker to support, as Messi was hellbent on being in the midfielder to try and touch the ball.

At least he had a great first half.

Would love to see how he looks with 21, hes still a kid. A bit more strength and hes golden.

He's overplayed and noticeably slower and slower as the season progresses and he's not rotated properly. He's not fast even in very fit condition, let alone after playing so many games with little to no rest in between.

He does have some nice moments still, of course it is very obvious he's suffered a drop-off in energy and performance for quite a few weeks now.

Never been as big on him as many here are, but the talent is there, but he is being over played, needs a rest.
