8 - Pedri

Pedri has shown he is already a superior player to Puig with his movement and ability to retain possession. Both are simliar in the way they play but Pedri is ahead of Puig atm. Ilaix on the other hand is a totally different player tbh, you have to be deluded to think Puig is superior to him or Pedri. I don't see it. What Ilaxi offers is completely different to both.

It's just nice to have all 3 of them here. Ilaix is a profile we've desperately lacked for a while. Pedri is of course very promising but he has his limitations too, which is to be expected at 18.

To be honest most footballers develop way into their mid 20's before they start reaching their prime. Defenders even later in some cases.

All three have complimentary profiles so it should never be a comparison of who is better. In an ideal world they all reach their potential and we have three great midfielders that we can choose two of depending on the opposition.

Pedri, Ilaix, and Puig are all promising talents. Pedri is the more advanced in his development, but it's not clear yet who will develop the most. Many factors will influence this.

As long as Koeman is manager, Puig starts with the lowest chance of making it. If Xavi comes in, this could change drastically. It depends. Puig is young, needs to either go on a short loan or stay and continue to fight for his place. It's almost sure Xavi will manage us after Koeman. Stylewise, Xavi is a fit for Puig, Koeman is more direct, and is normal for him to like Ilaix's style more.

Who tell you that Xavi will coach Barca after Koeman??? If Font wins, yes. If Laporta wins, nope.

Ok, so my take on the three of them is this.

Pedri is the one with the best overall vision of the game. Instinctively knows when to slow it down, when to try a decisive pass, when to dribble, when to play it safe. Weak points: he is clearly on the slow side, and he is very hesitant to shoot from great positions.

Puig has the best, most constant, and smartest movement by a clear margin. This makes him the type of player who provides a faster tempo of passing and improves the movement of others as well. A role Xavi used to have. He is easy to pass-to, thus advancing the game in a positive manner. He is quick and always looks to develop the game rather than play it safe. Weak points: his enthusiasm is uncontrolled to borderline erratic, making him a positional problem at times, especially in transitions. Weak physique.

Ilaix seems like he could be a great off-the-ball player that would join the attack and provide contributions in the final 3rd with surprise incursions (sort of like Rakitic role from MSN Barca). He is physical and doesn't demand ball to feet, but out of the three, he can have the best end product in terms of goals and shots. Also, his physicality could make him better than both at pure defensive work (tackles, handling physical duels etc.). He would be the box-to-box type.

I agree with some things in this post but:

*Puigs weak physique is too peripheral of a thing to talk about
*Puig is a bit erratic now, but wouldn't we think that could change if he got 3/4/5 games in a row from the start?
*Pep spoke about Foden in an interview with Ferdinand recently. I think this would be spot on regarding Pedri as well. Apart from being slow (more so now after being played too much) and hesitant to shoot, he plays too much of his own game for me, roaming around and makig decisions on the fly, sort of like Messi, even though he's nowhere near that level.

I reckon Laporta hires Xavi after Koeman, it feels inevitable. Although unlike Font, Laporta will allow Koeman to continue beyond this year.

Pep would take Pedri at City before Puig and it wouldnt be close call.
