Suarez is a perfect player for Barcelona, I don't see why would he not fit in.

I have a lot of respect for Paul Scholes as well. I respectfully disagree with him. On one hand he says that Suarez would struggle here since Liverpool was based around him and Barcelona around Leo. Then he goes on to say that he should have joined Real Madrid, a team based around Cristiano.

He sounds confused to me.

He thinks Messi will have a hard time accepting him. Someone ask him how much he knows Messi and the inside surroundings in Barcelona. He then says Suarez will be forced out wide, how does he know that? Has he talked with Lucho?

He then says that only if Messi likes you then you'll play, otherwise not. Has Messi started picking the starting XI now?

Good post. With all due respect, Scholes doesn't have a clue.

Same goes for Cruyff. They say lots of stuff but there is not really a good argument to back it up.

I know scholes knows his stuff more than all of us combined, but why make these statements when at the end you could be proven wrong?

The stupid thing about the quote is, if he thinks Messi dictates the team and where people play, then would he not have influence to tell the board not to buy him in the first place

Scholes: Suarez is making a mistake joining Barcelona.

I have a lot of respect for Paul Scholes' football genius, and I can't help but feel that he's not wrong with this judgement.

Does anyone else think that Suarez is likely to be a repeat of the Ibrahimovic fiasco?

Here is the source instead of the goal .com link:

Scholes doesn't really say that much, except what has been true of all other CFs who have come to Barça who have been forced to the wing by Messi playing centrally:

Suarez will be making a mistake if he signs for Barca

If Luis Suarez does sign for Barcelona from Liverpool, will Lionel Messi ‘accept’ him? Suarez is a centre forward and he won’t want to play out wide. I can’t see Suarez and Messi linking well together. It seems to me, if Messi likes you, you’ll play. If he doesn’t, you’re wasting your time. And, to be honest, I think Suarez is making a bit of a mistake going to Barcelona – he’d be better suited to Real Madrid.

Most of us assume (or hope) Messi is going to be played deeper as a classic #10 with Lucho, with Suarez #9 in front. If Lucho stays with the same old 4-3-3 false 9 system, then Scholes isn't off base.
