9 - Robert Lewandowski

RL9 was also widely considered a chocker in his prime, before the Covid CL title.

Just like Benzema, who had a great year in 2022 and people forgot his finishing for over a decade. Recency bias is big tbh
Only Messi and Ronaldo have more knockout stage goals than RL9 and he had 40 plus goals in all competitions for 8 seasons in a row. Benzema was a clown who finished with 5 league goals in a league season in his peak age. You comparing them in terms of their career trajectory shows your ignorance.

Only Messi and Ronaldo have more goalscoring achievements in this century.

RL9 has an amazing record against big teams in the CL and in domestic leagues. His goal ratio in big European competitions are just as good as Messi and Ronaldo.

I think you're forgetting that RL9 is 36.

In his prime RL9 was breaking records at the highest level, winning trophies as the player of the tournament, consistently influencing games with his all round play and winning individual awards.

RL9 has succeeded everywhere he has been and even in his decline has the most goals in Europe beating world class strikers in their peak. How about you put some respect on his name?
Hi Tempt, hope you're well. Actually, I'm not disrespecting Lewa, his achievements and stats talk enough for him. I'm just explaining a reality : there are many types of number 9. Lewandowski has his own profile, which is not what we (as FC Barcelona's fans for more than 20 years now) weren't used to witness. We used to have south american's type of number 9, centre forwards with great mobility, grinta, high technical level, great dribbling and versatility. A Barça compatible number 9 had to have the full package : capable to do what Lewa does but also what Lamine does at a good level. Was Lewa at any time of his carreer able to do what Lamine does ? That's the problem he's living with the fans right now, they expect too much. His style is different.

He has been very clutch for Barca. Not just against big teams but also against average teams in crucial moments. Numerous game-deciding goals. @Rassvet

Missed at least two big chances against PSG.

That's what people mean by going missing in big games.

Scoring against big name teams and scoring against them in the K.O with a vital goal Is two totally different things.

His going scoring record in the CL K.O is a lot of goals that didn't really matter in the context of the game.

I've been defending lewa re Barca for a while, but when his fans try to push this he's clutch argument, that's where I have to step back, because he simply isn't that.

Every player misses chances in big games. Every player has poor big games.

Just giving you a reason to talk about him of course, thank me later
Maybe but you make it sound like I'm writing bullshits. I understand everybody has a preference for a player or another, that's the reason I create threads when it comes to debate on comparisons, you won't see me in Lewa's thread to compare him with Eto'o after each of his performances. But you have to admit you consider Lewa for his stats and that's what I say since the beginning : there are many visions of football, yours is only the stats matter, for the others it's the all round game. Just to show you why people criticize him today or even in his Bayern's time. I have my own vision of the game but I choosed to judge him on his stats, his stats in big games, the clutch character of his goals and the trophies he'll help the team win.

I think we need to stop those comparisons, it's obvious that everybody here has a player he loves more so I understand their opinion like they're Lewa's fans and follow him everywhere he goes. I also did the same for Rivaldo, Dinho, Deco and Eto'o back then even if internet wasn't that developped. They're Barça's fans today thanks to Lewa, I wish him to score as he did in the beginning of the season cuz if he does, it means Barça will do a historic season with the current form of his teammates. Also, he's 36 now so he doesn't have to do a lot in the play, I just expect stats and I'll be very happy for him and the club.

All that yapping for nothing,
Does not change facts
