The initiative to press higher up came when a useless Gavi appeared who is no threat to drive ball or open up game with pass then made worse with a slow Lewa at CF and Fermin put to LW so Gavi can get on. All while a 17 yr old was tiring.

That front 4 made it too easy for Atletico to push up with little threat if left space at back unless Yamal got it in final third.

Before this match, I was watching a pre-match TV studio commentary.
Straight from Barcelona; interviews with TV commentators, press reporters, also ordinary fans. When asked about Lewandowski, some of them mentioned that he was slower and less agile than a few years back, but all of them said he was a good asset deserving the contract extension. It nicely suprised me.
Nothing like what's said about him here.
Were they just courteous?
How many members here are true Catelonians/Barcelonians?
You'd think 25%, 50%...or maybe 2%?

People have very short memories is all I can say.

He is a threat in the box. No other player has that natural and elite ability to find themself in those tap in chances.
But he is getting slower, hence his tap in or ball connecting abiliity is getting sloppier.

Flick made a mistake taking Raph out, guys does a lot of hard work for Lewa.
We lost control of the midfield, as there was one less player doing the pressing and Atletico were easily able to by pass the press.

Such a fucking connundrum.

It is, but I hate when people are so selective. He sometimes still has a great pass in him and in mamy cases he opened attacks with good first touch through balls but people forget these ofc.

Like I said before, he probably lost muscle memory due to his technique being acquired by hard training instead of natural talent.

That's why he is losing his first touch or dribbling ability with age, which is unusual. He is known for hard work, he even added good free kicks late during his career out of nowhere. Its going to be worse and worse because almost all of his abilities are through hard training and learning from other teammates.

His only natural talents were always strenght, high football IQ, ability to be at the right place at the right time and good passing accuracy, he really has a great cross im him, but Due to obvious reasons he rarely Has opportunity to do them.

Due to age he is slower do its affecting also these natural talents.

He was always a good natural passer / crosser that's why he can still do these. He actually played as CAM for some time during early career.

So to sum up.. due to age all that's left is good football IQ....
