9 - Robert Lewandowski

40 million down the drain
RL9 scores again

Needed that brace for pichichi race and now he's only 2 behind Salah for golden boot although that will be tough as Salah only has league/stadpadding to focus on for rest of the season.

Not even sure why I was so critical of him. I was probably being too harsh, talking about his all-round game. I have seen him do well in general play this season too.

I think maybe all the fanboy worship by some in here just made me go the other way. I am something of a contrarian. But I will give him his due now and if he has a bad game in future, I will be balanced in talking about it.
Everyone deserves criticism when they play bad and praises when good. His fanboys can't take it even when it's deserved, that's fanboy behavior for you, cringe as fuck. Barca comes before any player.

That's true, he did have some bad games, and it's ok to point that out.

But in general he's done well this season, especially for a 36-year-old player.

I agree there's been some fanboy behaviour in here (it was probably that behaviour that was putting me off the lad) but he is an all-time great striker.

As you say, the team is more important than any individual.

That's true.

Still tragic to watch that one moment where he just needed to outpace the defender and get an easy 1v1.
I remind you, he is 37 years old - he is not as fit, fast and strong as he used to be. At his age, Haaland or Mbappe will still outpace defenders, provided they have an electric scooter.

As for one of the above posts about "fanboys". I have criticized Lewandowski many times for his performance in the national team and in Barcelona he also has weaker matches or even weaker periods - and who doesn't? The problem is that many critics exaggerated the problem - OK, I can understand that, but when he played the next few matches at a very good level, the critics sank into the ground, only to come back to this forum after one weaker match and write: "I told you this scumbag doesn't deserve to play in Barcelona"

Yea but those are bundesliga goals, especially the ones for Bayern you divide by 2.
Nah. He scored at the same rate or even better rate in the CL. And scores at the same rate in La Liga(if you adjust it for his age and decline).

Prime Lewandowski easily gets 40 goals every season playing for Barcelona.

He'd absolutely break records if he had Messi feeding him in his peak. Messi would notice his subtle movements unlike other low IQ players.

He is what he is.

As good as any around if not the best in the box.. just dont expect him to hold the ball up 40 yds from goal or run in behind.

But if play him then cant expect those things of him and need to get ball where he is effective... which Barca do.

Always looks better when has players up and around him in box.. Ferran... Raphinha.. Fermin offer him that.

I don't make the rules that's just the way it is.

Huge + is his work ethic and positive influence on the youngsters! He'll probably be able to maintain the same level next season.

2 pikachus in a row. Not too shabby! 👴😎
