🚨🚨[ @s_staszewski🥇] | JUST IN: Robert Lewandowski has AGREED a 3-year contract with Barcelona, after discussions with the club. He has already communicated his decision to Bayern Munich. PSG, Manchester City and Liverpool were also interested.

That's player-club best case, which doesn't get you any transfer done.
Like with Raphinia.

We need the club-club agreement

Laporta is out of his mind if this is true, which I still don't believe. From both sporting and financial perspectives this transfer makes no sense.

If you watch Bayern regularly you can tell he is slowing down, especially in the second half of this season, not just in terms of scoring but his general game play is not as great as before. Not as mobile as before. His inter-play with his teammates, something Lewandowski did really well before has been far and few between, he is more and more relying on service and that's natural, the guy is getting older and can't run as much as he did before.

Giving a soon-to-be 34-year-old who in my opinion has another year or two at the top level left a 3-year contract is crazy. I don't know what wages we are offering him, he is already making 24m gross at Bayern and reportedly wants more (around 28m to 30m), even if he were to take a paycut to come here it would still be around 20m I guess. How the hell can we accommodate that kind of wages?

Bayern should just tell us to take a hike and demand a huge fee like 80m or something, that's will be our saving grace. Come on Bayern, come through for us.

Haven't followed this saga. What's the deal? Is his contract expiring? What will we pay Bayern?

He has one year left on his contract with Bayern. Reportedly getting upset with Bayern for keeping delaying their contract renewal talk. Lewandowski reportedly wants a longer extension like 3 years or more and higher salary, something Bayern doesn't want to commit to. Hence all the rumors that he is negotiating with us and receiving offers from other clubs etc.

In my opinion, Bayern won't let him go for cheap at all this summer, even if he would agree to let him go (I think they wouldn't, as they clearly have no replacement for him at all. They are not getting Haaland). Most likely scenario would be he renews with Bayern on terms both parties eventually agree to in the end. Best case scenario for us.

Hot take but with some credence based on Haaland's injury history/toxic entourage (and 350-400 M total package):

Lewa over the next 3 years would be more productive for Barca than Haaland over the next 3 years.

after all lewa's entourage can leak stuff to push bayern into offering more. or whatever. negotiating tactics and stuff

The last line is 100% true IMO as well

Problem is his transfer goes completely against the new team we are building...

Still don't think this makes any sense at all. Would probably end up as a pretty big investment into a soon to be 34 year old player.

I don't like the idea on gambling on him not suddenly declining at this age, something even players like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi or Ronaldo couldn't avoid.

I really don't want him either, unless some brainiac in the club has found a solution to bring him almost on a free transfer, with his wages not hindering reinforcements in other positions. But I highly doubt that.
