With the most iconic semifinal performance in Football history. Nobody's touching that.

RL9's main man energy is insane. He's that guy! 😎

you mean the real madrid match? yeah that was probaby the best semi final performance ever considering he played for an underdog, i remember that day very well: Barca lost one day ago 0-4 against Bayern and you saw a lot of real madrid making fun about Barca and then Lewa happened....

Bringing up goal ratio again?

How often must it be said Messi and Ronaldo spent years as wingers?

also good point, forgot that

still impressive stats

Big Benz has the third most in knockout stages and fourth most in cl overall and that with Cristiano as his partner!

shocking that Suarez has only 27!

Nope, not having that. They aren't your typical wingers at all. They have zero defensive duties and the entire system comprising of an all time great supporting cast was geared for them to score and get the best out of them in every way possible.

The absolute optimal conditions for any attacker. Prime Real and Barca gave these 2 legends the best possible platform to perform. None of the "wingers" ever have this kinda privilege.

Oh and also, RL9 scores at a better rate in knockouts than any of those typical number 9's too and it's a pretty large sample space over his career.

Doesnt matter what you are having or not, they stated out wide, as in proper wingers.

They did transition to wide forwards after a while though.

I'm not talking about Ronaldo from his RM days here, like 04-06, at that time, he wasn't the target for Uniteds chances.

Can we get a glimpse of that kind of player? Because all we get is missed sitters, wrong passes, mistimed runs, heavy touches, turnovers, miscommunication and whiney attitude.

He was sensational at Barca before the World Cup. And not just goals, you got to see the best of hold up play, linkup play, clever tricks and skills, technique, positioning, Football IQ and everything a striker needs. The only thing you didn't see last season was penalties and he's the best penalty taker in modern era.

You definitely got more than a glimpse.

Barring the initial years at Man Utd as a wasteful prodigious winger, when did Ronaldo have any defensive duties?

When did Messi ever have defensive duties?

Whether you like it or not, the entire system was geared towards their strengths getting the best out of them. The ideal conditions to maximize their offensive outputs. It doesn't matter that they "started out wide" on paper lmao. They started out wide because they were way more comfortable playing off a CF typically and getting the ball to feet(Messi) or running in behind(Ronaldo). Cutting in from the flanks was also the best way to utilise their individual brilliance.

What exactly is the deal with Temptation and Lewandowski? Is this some sort of coping mechanism regarding the fact that "RL9" couldnt even hit a simple header with his forehead in crucial moment against Girona? Most people here on the forum were excited about his arrival and had high hopes for him. Fact is he's been piss poor lately, and brings very little to the table atm.

Can't think of many sane people who would choose Lewandowski over Ronaldo or Messi for a CL KO match.

Lewandowski is much more of a poacher than Ronaldo (especially in his ManU days) and Messi ever was, and both are clearly superior players who impact games more than Lewandowski.

And if you want to bring up stats, why not look at more stats like Key passes, Dribbles completed, Assists, Chances created etc. Pretty sure he wouldn't come out on top then.

I'm not saying I would choose Lewandowski over Ronaldo in a CL knockout match. I never said that.

You completely misunderstand me.

My initial point was that Lewandowski being awful in knockouts is a joke and he has a very healthy scoring rate even in knockouts.

My point about Messi and Ronaldo was that they shouldn't be called typical wingers because they had no defensive duties and the team was set up to get the best out of them in terms of output. I didn't even bring them 2 into this discussion initially. The other posters did. On paper, even Mbappe is generally a "winger" but anyone who watches the sport knows that he's the main goal threat in the system just like Messi and Ronaldo were.
