Adriano Correia Claro

Adriano is a decent player but I fail to see what he offers us that maxwell doesn't.

If we played a 4-4-2 I could see the logic of having Maxwell and Adriano, as Adriano can play on the wing, but we have three LB's, none of who can play in another position (and don't say Abidal can play at CB cause he obviously CAN'T).

Is this a bad signing that can cause problems within the team? No. But is it a signing that makes a lot of sense? Not really..

edit: Having now read the rest of this topic, I see several of you are claiming that Abidal can play at CB. Why? Because he says it's his favoured position? The guy clearly doesn't know shit because he is a liability at CB and has proven that for club and country. An upside down Stevie Wonder has more positional sense than Abidal, and thus Abi needs the touchline for guidance. And also bad tackles at LB don't usually result in penalties like they do at CB.

Adriano can cover both flanks. Maxwell is limited to the left. Adriano has a better motor than Maxwell and can better fill in defensively as well as provide cover for Dani on the right. Adriano is just as fast as Dani. Very pacey and able to finish with either foot.

This is a utility signing and definitely a Pep guy. Pep has been looking for a versatile flank player to add to the team and Adriano will fit the bill well. He has a very good relationship with Dani also.

There is no signing needed for CB, even if Marquez leaves, as there are several youth players who can step into the first team.

Because Abidal started very strong at season 09-10, especially in the defensive stand.

Perhaps Maxwell or Abidal leaving? We will see.

Dude, I don't remember even 1 game when Abidal played as a CB for Barca. Please refresh my memory.
