Adriano Correia Claro

Adriano will give us option for LB and RB, gives competition for Alves, and Abidal is aging, so this signing brings more depth to the squad, plus it is relatively cheap, so why not.

Even if he is an LB, he can be the back-up LB then. Maxwell looked actually better ont he right side the times he played tehre last season.

Good point. I haven't heard Pep once say anything about Adriano. And now all of a sudden Rosell steps in and we sign him with aboslutely no talk about it beforehand in the press? Maxwell surely has done nothing but impress Pep, so it seems odd for him to now want to bolster LB even further with Adriano.

This must be a Rosell signing.
Because Pep talked a lot about Maxi last summer? If anything it was hailed as brilliant because it was done quickly and quietly while everyone was salivating about Felipe. How do we even know whether they discussed it or not. Considering his age and versatility I'm sure Pep wouldn't mind him. And for the 9686 time he wasn't signed primly to be a left back.

abidal can be our back up centre back maxwell can get first team football at left back, adriano is a backup. (especially for alves, which makes him a great signing because now we don't need any defenders.

Seems a very good signing. Player who can provide cover on either flanks. Caceres off you reckon?

Caceres was on loan to Juve, not perma signed.

I think Maxwell will play more of a defensive left winger than at left back. Alves plays 95% games anyway so i dont think he was bought as Alves backup. Hes signed for versatility but i think we have one too many left backs.

I don't see why we (or Pep especially) should be talking in the press for every our potential or next signing.

no. abidal is now no longer a left back but will be used as a cb. we have four cb's now (puyol pique abidal milito) and also youth. for rb/lb we have maxwell, alves, adriano and some youth players and obvious abidal can play left back.

it is good depth.

I guess this shuts the door to Filipe Luis, but considering his price and our supposed lack of funds it seems the correct thing to do... I don't expect Adriano to play a lot of minutes to be honest, but it's always good to have a backup...

I'm still worried about our midfield, as we only have 4 players there, in my opinion we need two midfielders, unless Pep knows that JDS or Thiago are ready for first team football...

I'm no Rosell fan, but Pep never talks about who he wants to sign. He asked (apparently) for a left sided player, and Adriano can play anywhere down the left, and can cover at RB too. There's not many good players around who are as versatile as Adriano is, and who can play on the left in particular. Look at the money that Madrid have wasted on DiMaria and Pedro Leon, and then compare it to what we're spending on Adriano. Good bit of business and a really good signing if you ask me.
