Song has put in a good performance pretty much every single time he's played as DM.

How many high class games did Song play?
And about his performance as CB, this counts too, Yaya proved able to play as CB, Song doesn't, not that it's the first criteria, but it's still one for us seeing how many times we have to improvise.
Last year I would've liked if they bough Martinez, problem is Bayern had to pay 40 million, but I think those extra 20 face to Song were actually worth it.

Song was never a CB, neither was Yaya btw, he filled there twice just like Yaya filled there when absolutely needed. Busq sucks as a CB should we sell him too? Song should stop being considered as a CB we bought who we tried to convert, he was bought for a single reason: Keita is gone we bought a younger Keita who is doing a fine job at the club.
Everytime he was given a chance he played well, he ceased the last few matches with busq's injury to show what he's capable of and now he should get more playing time. Martinez is also not playing as a CB for Bayern we don't need and we don't have the money for a 40 million DM, but he is white...

As I wrote, the first criteria isn't how he plays as CB, but it still counts to have a good DM that can cover a CB position when needed.

He isn't as good as Keita either, and as I said, I saw him play at Arsenal before, I don't really care how he did in 3-4 average games in La Liga, let's see how he does with Real Madrid or next year when we might face Bayern again or other strong teams, for now all I know is that at Arsenal he wasn't impressive, not the kind of player you want to buy if you have our clubs aspirations, and each way, he was brought as a backup for Busquets, clearly not as a replacement for that position and of course they also calculated that he will be needed as CB, that's exactly because Busquets can't, we needed a DM that CAN do a good job as CB.
So I really do hope Spurs or Arsenal bid for him and get him back to England this summer, would be perfect if done in time so the club can bring a DM that can start in many games and preferably do well as CB and be much quicker than Song, not just when Sergio is out for the day.

Athletic did not want to sell. Nor did they have to. Bayern gave the cheque to Javi to pay his own clause because Athletic refused to negotiate. They smuggled him out of the country at fucking midnight and he had to be two places at once for some technicality to be legally binding. He sneaked into their training ground to clean out his locker FFS. Only a foreign team could have done that heinous. We would have had to pay additional tax carrying the total to well over 40 million if we paid his clause. For a defensive midfielder.

Didn't say 40 is fair for a DM, but really 40 for Martinez look more fair than 20 for Song or how much they payed for Dmitry in 2009 as CB.

Should have taken the money and ran.
Imagine the legal shitstorm!

Hi, its me..
theres a sky sports news 'special report' on him tomorrow at 7;30pm. They did one with Cesc where they basically just follow him around and talk to a few of the players etc, might be worth a watch :)

Song is doing fine as a back up for Busquets. He is not a defender and should stay imo. Selling him will mean looking again for a dm. Not worth it.

I remember the Cesc one.. it basically was a "I'm sorry" report for the Arsenal fans.

Wasn't the best game for Song tonight. A bit sloppy in the 1st half with some misplaced passes but got better in the 2nd half.

Deserved that round of applause.

We should keep him. He's a good backup for Busquets and he's got the physical presence most our players lack.
