I liked Hleb a lot at Arsenal, and hope Pep trusts him enough for another chance. Only thing is he's not as good at Xavi or Iniesta at spraying the ball around, so I'm not sure he's ever gonna be used as a CM in our 4-3-3. When we got him, I thought the idea was that He can be a winger, making us more flexible. We haven't really had real wingers since Quaresma and Luis Garcia (still don't think Giuly was a true winger), and i think it's made us a little bit predictable.

And, Metaphysical, do you mean Thiago from Juventus? He's been terrible the past couple years. Sort of the posterboy for their central midfield woes...

that's what I'm talkin' about!

I have faith that, if he stays and is played central, he'll come good next season and with him and thiago as creative backups we may not be as much in the shit in terms of squad depth.

still would like to see cesc come home, though.

I don't think he will be with us next season. I mean, Iniesta was out for 3-4 weeks and even then Hleb didn't get to play. Something went wrong with his injury in the begining of his time at Barca and then he lost his confidence. Also, he was never that great at Arsenal either. I mean, Xavi and Iniesta are so much better. We maybe didn't make a mistake when we signed him cause' he is not a bad player and we hoped he would progress even more in Barca, but at this stage we know it was a mistake. We have to sell him and move on, get a new player with a stronger mentality and heart for our club.

yes, aliaksander paulavic hleb was the original title i believe

Heheh yes that's right.

I also think that the only case in which Hleb should stay is if Pep is willing to play him central. And Thiago looks like the real deal to inherit the midfield, whether he grows up to be a Xavi or Iniesta we have yet to find out. But he had some fantastic turns that looked so much like those of our current midfield wonders.

And the one from Juventus is Tiago just in case anyone else gets confused :p

Yeah, I also noticed Thiago make some fantastic Xavi turns and twists. Betw, Hleb played kinda good yesterday.

He was far from bad but the team really wasn't so hsi performance went down the drain.

he made some nice passes. not world class or anything, but not the performance we were getting used to

I would like to see Hleb stay, but on the other hand if Bayern want Hleb + Cash for Ribery i wouldn't complain. I'd love to see Ribery come to Barca and maybe Hleb would fit in better at Bayern. :innocent:

I still think he is more than a decent player in the centre of midfield, it just didn't work this year.

If we don't trust him and thus sell to be replaced by a better player, he would be handy for teams like Bayern

Perhaps we should come up with a word for people who are great in the EPL, but suck in La Liga, or vice versa. "Hlebbism"? Or perhaps "Luque-ism", or "Colocciniation". Other suggestions welcome :D

For Serie A, I propose "Samuelization"

I think he can be given another year but it must be made clear to him that he cannot be first choice and must improve and integrate more into the squad next year, also I hope they play him more in the center. If Hleb agrees to his role then keep him for another year atleast.

I trust him, he is a decent dribbler and a good (excellent?) passer of the ball. If he doesn't do well this year, then he should go back to Arsenal or Bundesliga. Ofcourse if we strike a deal with Bayern for Ribery with Hleb going the other way then it's all win win.
