Alexis Sanchez

Only way I can see him work is if he plays in the middle and there is no way Messi will agree to that, being the little dictator he is

His hard work compensates for lack of talent. I do admit it's embarrassing to see him do funny poses or pull his shorts. Confidence issues, I guess.
Barto's statement today was a bit of a surprise. There's no room for Alexis on the left. On the right there's Pedro who's a homeboy, Deu is coming back, and Rafinha might shoot for same spot too. Not to mention Lucho's words of strengthening all lines.
We'll see.

Alexis fanboys are the funniest and most deluded by far.

You need to make your mind up.

If you score a lot of goals, provide a lot of assists, show world class speed, passes and football understanding as Alexis has this season, then you are exactly what this team needs. I was probably the one calling for his head on a plate the loudest in here not long ago, but times have changed. This weekend was a pivotal game for Alexis, and he delivered. He showed that with Messi in the game he can be dangerous, be independent and functional using his own style (fused with Barca).

Alexis has given us variety in attack though? In fact he is the definition of variety in attack. He is unorthodox, lightening fast, and given his current confident form able to take on defenders and put in low crosses to Messi, Cesc, Iniesta, etc. I don't get the whole idea of wanting a striker. I believe we have the personnel to create a lineup that has Messi behind one of Neymar or Alexis or even Cesc :tata1:

"Is not an ideal fit for the role he fills at Barca." Sorry, but this is grasping at straws. There will continue to be one-off games where Alexis won't play well, but the idea that there is currently someone out there better suited for our football is fantasy and the opinion has no legs to stand on. Alexis has earned his stripes and we can ask for nothing more from any player than what he is currently giving us.

Yup, I tried with everything I had supporting Alexis, but the truth is he is so inconsistent that it became a frustrating exercise, and I eventually gave up (Read: 3 seasons strong). When you perform for a few games at a time then sink back into a hole, you are not worth it in the end. I'd much rather have a consistent performer that provides moderate numbers but who can be counted on than a roller coaster like Alexis who one game plays like a jugadorazo then the next game you wonder wtf we signed him for. It's embarrassing to watch him play for us most times.

well.. you had not tried harder. i think alexis is a good player, but lacks sometimes in have coolhead to make quick decisions when he is on the front of the goalkeeper and he sometimes is too generous and prefers to pass the ball rather than shoot a goal. The problem of consistency was not a problem of 1 player, but was of the entire team this season

He's been much more consistent compared to other players in the squad and even the starting lineup this past season.

yes dude, i meant, he is not inconsistent, was replying to one of the above post where he was called inconsistent.

I am fanboy, and i have always written good things about him and pedro both.

He was very consistent with Messi out of the lineup and forming an excellent partnership with Neymar... that is a fact.

But... BUT prepare for the unpopular opinion and see how honest some of you are willing to be: Alexis sucks for the most part when Messi is on the pitch. Alexis is made to run through the center, not on the wing unable to see the whole pitch. His creativity is stifled out wide.

With Messi in, there is very little for Alexis to do. He is better off in Serie A where he can make the most of his potential. If he is to stay, I'd love for him to switch roles with Messi but I don't see that happen. Alexis has a wicked free kick but I don't see Messi giving those up either. If you ask me, Messi should chill tf out and work for the team by sacrificing a little. Digress. Lucho probably won't shift Messi out wide for anyone, but if he does, I will be really happy for Alexis sake, should he stay, and more importantly for the teams chemistry and dynamic in attack.
