The problem with our board, that most of you guys don't understand, is that we sell our players when they have two years left in their contract -> and it changes everything. If Cesc/Alexis had a contract until 2018/9, we would definitely sell them for 50/60m euro.

But both of them had two years left, so it means 19m/year (final price 38m) for Alexis and 16,5m/year (final price 33m) for Cesc.
Unfortunately, what we should've done, is to extend their contract and then sell them. This is why our board is so unprofessional .

yes because it's always as easy to extend contracts and offload them a month later.
come on guys even if aleis would have a contract until 2018 we would not get much more.

38 or 41, yes this is a huge difference... very very bad

This is not a question of 1, 2 or 3 million euro. This is a matter of reputation ; unfortunately, we're selling our players at low prices and this is what bothers Barca fans. Clubs like Chelsea, Porto, Bilbao are very good in Business and there's no reason we couldn't be able to do the same.

@jurgo : you don't know what you're talking about. This is well-known that clubs extend the contract of their players during the season to sell them at the right price in the summer. Players are most of the time aware of that. Anyway…

Porto and Bilbao don't want to sell ? They put buy-out clauses and they know that clubs who want to buy the players will pay this clause. This is about being smart when you do business, they know that the clause is high but still realistic and this is how they make money.
Concerning Chelsea, yes, they wanted to sell Luiz but at the right price so they would be able to buy the likes of Cesc and Diego Costa.

He is right. They dont want to sell, thats why they always put those big release clauses to keep the clubs away or make them pay big.

they set buy-out clauses because they have to to fulfill the league rules for example in spain, or they have to because the players wouldn't accept long contracts as they just wanna use a small club as a springboard (for example götze - dortmund, now dortmund would have a little bit more power probably)
