This dude is the rot in the fruit of Barcelona's search for success. He's so bad that he's one of RM's best players. His reaction time for Messi's throughball was fucking cringeworthy. He committed 5 of the stupidest, clumsiest, most incompetent fouls I've ever seen. It's very encouraging that the guy who's supposed to replace Busquets against Juventus completed a whopping 0 tackles out of 6 attempted defensive actions. If he tried a pass with any pressure or difficulty, it was fucking garbage. What's even more surprising to me is that he only got 31 touches on the ball as a fucking midfielder, 31!!!! For comparison, his 24 completed passes are less than Denis at semi-RW in 45 mins and Suarez at striker. That's a shocking level of anonymity. More than 1/2 of his passes were backwards passes too.
Studying the extent of Gomes' mediocrity is quite revealing
. Can't believe many insisted on supporting him and believing that he'd ever amount to anything. It becomes even more damning when you consider the midfielders that other clubs bought for the same or less: Bayern/Thiago, RM/Kroos, RM/Modric, Chelsea/Kante. Given the price he was bought for, the expectations that the club had of him, and the amount of chances he gets, Gomes is easily one of the WORST transfers in the history of Barcelona.
