He's not been in great shape this season. He's gained some weight in the summer and is a little slower. Not that he's playing badly in relativity to other stars of the English League but he is better than he has showed this season.

Reading his recent interview, apart from professing his love of Barca again, he did make mention of how he's 'lazy & does not like to train'...That kinda took me by surprise...For a player on the wrong side of his 20s, nearing 30, he should make training a bigger part of his life

while the taxes thing was hilarious, I can't blame him for cussing arsenal.
his ambitions and skill are far above such meagre ambitions as at highbury, and unlike cesc he owes wenger no loyalty so will say what needs to be said. he's also not blinded by the optimism of youth.
had we signed him, none of the above would have been an issue. and he'd have been happy playing for the club he's supported since he was a nipper. I mean, I'm glad we didn't sign him (I wouldn't change a thing about last season) but I wouldn't be opposed if we had a punt on him in january for our left-side.
