Just shows that not all players are mercenaries and some players(especially European) pick clubs for romantic reason as well.

Yeah, I'm sure United pay him in sonnets and roses. I mean it's not like United are one of the biggest, richest, most famous, and most successful clubs in the world.

It's great that he rejected another mega money club. Just shows that not all players are mercenaries and some players(especially European) pick clubs for romantic reason as well.

MUFC are currently among those few clubs, who notoriously way overspend on everyone to make sure they have a chance against the current big 3 in the world when actually signing the player in question. Do you think youngsters like Depay or Martial would have earned the same at Barca or Bayern as they do now playing for MUFC?
(Real was excluded for good reason as they have a tendency to way overspend too)

Depay 90k and Martial 65k are not on super high wages yet, and lower than the likes of Ashley Young. Depay chose United because of LVG not money as PSG/City were also interested. Barca and Bayern pay their young players very well the likes of Gotze and Neymar paid high wages and market has inflated further since their transfers. United/Glazers took a lot of criticism for not competing for wages with the likes of Hazard/Silva/Aguero/Toure/Nasri/Moura. Its good that we are adapting now and not losing out to our rivals all the time.

Martial did pick us over at least someone like PSG,Chelsea or City and we managed to sign Schweinsteiger for 6.5 million because he wanted to play for United before retiring so I don't see why my comment is so funny...

Depay and Martial are MILES away from being compared to Goetze, James or Neymar.

Goetze was one the best CAM's in the world with BVB. James was consistent for a while with Porto, was Monaco's best player, and had an amazing WC. Neymar is Brazil's golden boy, and was practically carrying the team, and lead Santos to the Copa Libertadores, the last player to do so was Pele, btw.

You can't compare Martial & Depay's wages to these guys lol.

However, you could compare wages of Martial to that of Coman, who is playing really well for Bayern. Coman is being paid well less than that. I believe that Dybala, Vietto, Angel Correra, Icardi are also paid less (have to properly check), and they're currently as good if not better than these two.

Comparing Dybala/Vietto/Correra and Icardi wages to Martial/Depay is unfair as players playing for Real/Barca/Bayern/United and PL clubs usually means players get paid more than those who play for teams with less financial capacity, for example Vermalean would get a much lower wage right now if he played for Sevilla etc. Comapring Coman to Martial/Memphis is unfair as Memphis was the top dog last season for PSV and the Dutch league scoring 22 goals in 30 appearances something Coman still has not done yet (though he has the potential), plus Coman was brought on loan and not for the purpose to be a regular first team player yet for Bayern whereas Martial/Memphis are important first team players for United playing twice a week and therefore will get a higher wage.

Didn't someone at Barca come and out say they didn't think he was for sale like Wenger. Doubt he would reject Real/Barca/Bayern for us. Chelsea couldn't afford to loan such an expensive player and it's not exactly a Jose signing. It probably was City or PSG. Good news for us that he rejected other clubs for us, hopefully he enjoys it here at United and doesn't see us as a bridge to the big 3 in Europe.

PSG refused to move to €30m for Kurzawa, they weren't going to bid €80 for Martial. Especially not when actively developing JKA.

Anyways, I suspect this story, much like the alleged clauses that were originally spread, is fake. Not only is the original article absent from Marca but I very much doubt Monaco would turn down superior offers to appease players that are leaving anyway.

United supporters merely trying to justify the inane fees they spend on players.

Monaco owner has no reason to make it up. And the Times said that Chelsea really wanted him.

I suspect Monaco's owner probably would have spoken to French media on the topic if such a story were true. For whatever reason, neither he nor French media think it a relevant enough to circulate.

Can anyone link the original article from Marca? I can't find it. Seems odd that Rybolovlev would be speaking to Spanish media about French affairs, or that the former would care.

May be United's best player already tbh. He's a good bit better for them than he was for Monaco even, a phenomena I'm unsure has more to do with his confidence or the poor tactical structure of EPL sides, but he appears to have a lot more room to engage in 1v1's. Very poised and mature, takes what the opposition gives him, etc. Very good player.

It could also have something to do with Young player making natural progression as he ages...
