Antoine Griezmann

dembele is bad at scoring. Be most likely will not reach Griezmanns level. Remember he was a knee jerk buy because we'd lost neymar and needed a replacement

1-Dembele is a player we tried to sign in summer of 2016 and failed, had interest in him when EV was appointed to change our game plan to 4231 but BVB was asking too much, after Neymar he was our number one priority because he is very highly rated in the club. Dembele is anything but panic buy, the price may be but not the player.
2-At age of 19 Griezmann scored 7 goal, at age of 29 scored while Dembele scored 10. He can be a scorer if he reach his potential.

This is a textbook example of the classic "Yeah I'm out but I'm going to be as vague as possible to not rock the boat"-type of answer.

Welcome Griezmann, the #7 is waiting.

1. If Dembele will make it and we buy Griezmann, we will have 5 star players.
We will have to rotate.

2. If Dembele/Griezmann will fail, we will have only 4 star players.
No problem then.

3. If Dembele will fail and we don't buy Griezmann, we will have only 3 star players.

4. If Dembele will fail, we don't buy Griezmann, and Messi/Luis/Coutinho get injured, we will have only 2 star players like in this season.

Too many fans here are too romantic.
I don't believe that all out of Coutinho, Griezmann and Dembele will make it here.
Something always goes wrong.

Someone will fail/get injured and we will have 3-4 star players most of the time.

Griezmann is a left footed second striker, which is more or less Messi position. He isn't a 9 and probably will never be, and playing a winger is a thing of his past.
The question is about Griez himself not about Dembele. If Griez failed then it is 100M wasted even the rest of the players didn't fail.
This could be another Ibra from tactical standpoint, a player who will take the best position of Messi which will make him lose his spot or having to change positions which won't suit him much
And football isn't about how many stars you add, trying to fit Griez while we are still trying to integrate Dembele and Coutinho (like him or not, but there is zero chance the club and Valverde won't do everything they can to fit Dembele and make him look like worth the investment we made) could be disastrous
People talk about RM bench last year, but they forget that Zidane refused to make signings except bringing back Morata, putting faith in squad he had made the difference, something that actually made the difference for us since Crujif arrived but we are forgetting in past few years
We have enough star power, we need to let them gel and stop trying to bring more star power in the club and allow coach to build chemistry and work with what he has.

You're welcome

Maybe universe will balance out the bad signings we did. Let's hope.

My opinion on Griez:

The market is inflated and who else are you going to sign for 100 million € with his quality? I think that's why we have to make this move, to save money in the future. Look at Coutinho. Guy who hasn't done as much as Griez in football is going for 160 million €. So I am asking, how much someone with Griez's quality would cost in market now? 140 mil€? Probably more. If we don't sign him, I'm just afraid we will end up spending more money on someone else after one year, instead of buying him now, because we are getting him in a discount price. The thing is, Suarez is coming to an end soon as well. He is a striker and will be 32 next season. I wouldn't mind seeing Suarez and Messi rotating next season more and that way we can keep them fresher vs good opponents.

Question isn't about how much is he gonna cost if he didn't have that buyout, question is do we need him?
Again, I don't see him as a good fit here, he isn't a Suarez replacement, he plays his best when there is a striker in front of him. He is a second striker who is left footed and hasn't been playing as winger for ages. In other words he plays in Messi position
You don't pay 100M for a player to rotate, he will come if the management already ensured him that he is a starter and they want him for that purpose, that will mean either fit him beside Messi and Suarez which would probably be unbalanced line up or bench Suarez which won't work best for Greiz or our attack due to bad fit. Never mind Suarez won't accept that easily.
