Griezmann is an excellent footballer but counting his goals and assists is a bit misleading.
Finding his place would be more important than counting.

Reminds me of Arda Turan's 16/17 season when he scored 13 goals but...

Just watch his goal yesterday. Nice ball from Lenglet, quite bad defending from the opponent, his defender slips on the wet grass, so he gains 10 meters of advantage, two defenders start chasing him from the middle and almost catch him despite the ten meters fore(!), lucky because he can shot with his better left-foot (rare coming from the left), bangs it to the keeper, ball goes to the post an in. Quite lucky. Simply shows that against a good opponent he has very limited chances if plays as a winger. Too slow for that.

His assist yesterday? Even you could scoop it to Messi, not all assists are real ones when the media counts all last touches as being assists.

Flop? In the left wing most definitely as he is lacking the two most important ingredients to be a winger.
Flop as a player? No way, he's very good.

Not saying he’s the perfect fit at LW, far from it. I’m also aware Coutinho had a good start with goals and assists. I just think he’s been pretty good for us and far from a flop.

Imo the only way to utilize both Antoine and Messi is if we play in a formation similar to Italian teams used to play in early 2000.

Busquets as DM
Arthur and De Jong as RCM and LCM
Messi or Griezmann as AM

And Messi or Griezmann as SS with Suarez as CF

It makes the most sense to play him where he can favor his left foot. No need to play Busquets in first choice 11 anymore. Frenkie DM, Arthur LCM and Griezman RCM so he can cut in and shoot with preferred foot. He has the workrate and defends really well to contribute to press resistance as a midfielder too. Not to mention we have Semedo who has a more defensive role on the right side compared to Alba on the left. A front three, with the team we have at the moment, is strongest as D-S-M infront.

The alternative would be to play 3-1-2 with Griezman behind front three and Arthur and De Jong behind. Griezman is able to interchange with Messi much better than most players as well due to being left footed as well on the right side. His performances have shown he is suited very well for that role, actually much more suited than his current role on the LW.

I read that we got right of refusal on Saul and Gimenez among other Atletico players.
But I thought Barca had right of first refusal on Saul in the David Villa to Atletico transfer in 2013.

It's to hoodwink the clueless socios. "Look, we had to pay another 15m but we also got first refusal on the likes of Saul and Gimenez, which means that the players are basically ours". Wouldn't be surprised if a big portion of the socios eat that shit up.

What a deal!
