Arda Turan

Don't know if I remember correctly, but his performances on LW were much better than on RW.

I feel like offensively he'd do better than Rafinha yesterday, the latter had SO much space to operate in and could of made so much happen, an aging Alves would've caused havoc. However, I don't feel comfortable with Arda's defensive contributions, when he fucks up, he fucks up.

No chance mate. No chance.

First of all Rafinha is left footed while Arda is right footed. Big handicap when you need to cut in from that side.
Pace and pressing is also far on Rafinha's side and essential as to offset Messi lack of defensive game.

But with our current system, the RW doesn't need to cut in to a left foot as much
Why am I saying this?
We have Messi who likes coming from the right to the center, but we need the RW to be able to overlap and send in low crosses and at times high crosses since we don't have a RB playing in our system

Neymar has an advantage as LW because he is good with both feet, he can do both

But being 100% left footed like Rafinha is a big hindrance,
There were two occassions yesterday where he could have sent a sweet low cross but he was inhibited

Just look at how Vidal crosses the ball, sweet

Once Vidal comes back i prefer him to take over the RW spot in this new formation,

He might do better offensively, but is he gonna fight like Rafinha? Is he gonna hustle like Rafinha? Most importantly, is he gonna run like Rafinha? Arda left Atletico because he didn't want to run anymore.

The 3-4-3 is not without its flaws, and what Rafinha and Neymar does there defensively on the wings is absolutely vital to us. Rafinha's end product need to improve and I would sign a RW if we can get a great one and have Rafinha as backup,(assuming Messi position does become this) but right now despite his flaws, Rafinha is certainly the best option because he gives his best and leaves everything out on the pitch. Absolutely everything.

Most of the talent might have gone to Thiago, but the fight and determination is all Rafinha.

I agree, Rafinha is essential to the 3-4-3. The announcers for the game broadcast to the U.S. yesterday were criticizing his final ball, which is fair. But Mr. Energy has to be on the field to compensate on defense for Messi and Iniesta. And Rafinha does quite well on everything but that final pass leading to the goal.

Sergi Roberto is also quite well suited to the 3-4-3. The 4 CBs are so good this year, having 3 of them on the field improves the team quite a bit.

In current 3-4-3 Vidal would have been awesome :(
But yeah we might try Arda if Rafinha needed a rest, the 3-4-3 in current system is the closest to his role in A.Madrid as winger

Oh boy, imagine the reactions had ter Stegen not rescued his ass there

He would have become persona non grata in Barcelona already.

Most of his final ball lacked because he doesn't have a Right foot,

he failed in many occassions where he was supposed to use his right foot

But when on his left foot, he produced the cross that led to Suarez goal

I'd like to see him at the other two forward positions, too. That would keep him more match fit, and I think he would do better than the other available alternates.

He was already tried at rw, and failed.
